Hey everyone, I thought I’d better share an update, as some of you still don’t know what has happened. As my clients, so many of you have become close to me over the years.

A few weeks ago, our whole world changed when my partner, Damo, suffered a seizure. We soon discovered he had a brain tumour located 5cm deep within his brain.

Since then, he has undergone major brain surgery, and we’ve received the news that his tumour is a Grade 3 astrocytoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

We’re now preparing for the next stage. Damo will soon start radiation five days a week for six weeks, followed by chemotherapy. We’ll continue treatment here in Darwin for now, while also looking into clinical trials interstate.

I’ve had to temporarily close my doors and let go of my beautiful apprentice, Hayley, so she can continue growing into the amazing hairdresser I know she’ll become.

I’ve missed you all so much. Over the years we’ve created beautiful friendships, and I miss the salon banter, laughs and conversations. I never realised how much I’d miss my normal life until it was suddenly put on hold.

But right now, my focus needs to be on Damo and our family.

If you know Damo and me, you’ll know we get things done. We’re both stubborn AF, we work well as a team and we don’t give up easily. We’ll do whatever it takes to kick this cancer in the butt.

We’ve been blown away by the messages, donations and support, including the GoFundMe our beautiful friends created. Even when I haven’t had the headspace to reply, please know I appreciate every single message. ❤️

The salon will remain temporarily closed, but I will definitely be back. There may be some new faces in the meantime as I look into renting out chairs to keep the space going.

Don’t sweat the little things. Be grateful for that mad, chaotic, healthy life. Hold your loved ones close and appreciate the ordinary days, because you never know when life might suddenly change. ❤️
