When I grew up in Lithuania , March 8 looked different.
The streets would fill with men carrying tulips — one for mum, one for grandma, one for the teacher, one for a friend. 🌷
Not about romance.
About respect.
Tulips were always the flower of the day.
They are the first flowers of spring, appearing just as winter begins to fade — a small but beautiful reminder that a new season is coming. No matter the harsh winter, new blooms are always coming. Metaphoric and so meaningful.
They were also simple and affordable, which meant every man, every boy, could take part in the tradition. Even a single tulip carried meaning.
A small gesture, but a powerful one — reminding women that they are seen, valued and appreciated. We always rise , with our first feeling of spring.
It’s a tradition that has lived on for generations.
And today, even on the other side of the world, I carry that little piece of home with me - my tribute to my roots , to my tradition and my culture - my dress celebrating womanhood with the tulip across the print. I saw the dress and I couldn’t unsee it❤️🌷🌷🌷🌷
