Let’s talk head lice 🪲

It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s nobody’s fault. It’s not even embarrassing. Head lice happen!

For little boys, I’d give them a nice short haircut before treatment if you’re happy to. And our girls… well, be gentle. 😂

The product I find works best is below ⬇️

SMOTHER your child’s hair. I’m talking dripping. Have them sitting in the bath playing with a rubber ducky while they tell you for the 47th time that it’s going in their eyes. 😂

Wait the recommended time in this products case (10 minutes), then start combing.

Comb through and wipe the comb onto some paper towel so you can actually see what’s coming out. Take small sections and go up, down and side to side. COVER EVERY INCH. With little girls, use some sectioning clips if you have them too.

Then you MUST repeat the treatment as directed usually around 7 days later depending on the product. Do not skip this just because you can’t see anything. Those little eggs are the reason they can seem to magically come back.

Strip the beds and hot wash what you can. Sorry, you’re spending the day in the laundry. 😂 I’d do the bedding again when you repeat the treatment too. Do their frequently used blankets, pillowcases and towels, and anything else that’s been in close contact with their hair even the lounge throw/cushion covers. I’d also treat everyone in the family.

If we get cases, I always phone the school to let them know, including the year and class, so other parents can check their kids.

If your school has an outbreak, check your child’s hair thoroughly, even if they aren’t scratching. Finding them early makes life SO much easier. And personally I’d treat anyway.

Please do the right thing by everyone else in the community and deal with them properly when you find them. Remind your kids not to share hats, brushes or hair accessories and to avoid prolonged head-to-head contact.

And remember head lice don’t jump, fly or hop. They crawl. 🪲 Share this with a parent who may need some tips 💕
