Spring is definitely in the air, at last!
Flowers and blossoms are starting to bloom.
Sunshine and blue skies are becoming more frequent.
But for those who suffer from hay fever, this can be the start of a miserable time.
Itchy watery eyes
Congestion
Runny nose
Sneezing
Itching
Sore throat
What if this spring you discover that Bowen Therapy may ease or reduce the symptoms of hayfever?
How good would that be!

When your head, neck, and shoulders have been massaged, it stimulates the lymphatic system, which stimulates toxin release.
If you are not well hydrated before or don't drink enough water after a massage to help flush these toxins, you may encounter a slight headache.
This is why it is important to stay hydrated pre and post massage, (well all the time really đŸ˜‰) that way you will get the most out of your massage and feel great afterwards.

Like in a bowen treatment sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause.
When life gets loud, the body feels it. Tension builds, sleep suffers, the mind struggles to switch off, and we feel somewhat scattered.
A pause does not have to be long. It can be a few deep breaths, a short walk, or simply sitting still for a moment without distractions.
The body responds quickly when we give it permission to take a break.
What does your pause look like?
I personally enjoy that couple of minutes of quiet in the car before going inside.

While there is nothing wrong with a little indulgence, what the nervous system responds to most runs a little deeper.
It is the quiet, consistent habits that signal to the body that it is safe to come down, rest, and restore.
Things like:
- slowing down at mealtimes
- keeping well hydrated
- stepping outside for a short walk or even a few deep breaths
- limiting screen time before bed
- giving yourself genuine permission to rest
Simple on the surface, but deeply meaningful for a nervous system that has forgotten what it feels like to truly switch off naturally.

Over time, a nervous system that stays wired may affect sleep, digestion, hormones, mood, and how the body manages pain and tension.
This is something I see regularly, and it is a big part of why I offer the therapies I do.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen gently signals the nervous system to release the tension it has been holding. It works beneath the surface, not forcing the body into anything, but creating the space for it to settle and restore in its own time.
Massage
Massage gives the body a valuable opportunity to receive without doing. As muscles soften and circulation is encouraged, the nervous system may begin to shift out of its heightened state, supporting sleep, reducing physical tension, and restoring a sense of calm that can be hard to find elsewhere.
Reflexology
Working through the feet and connecting to the organs and systems throughout the body, reflexology offers a gentle but deeply supportive way to encourage nervous system regulation, improve circulation, and invite the body back toward a more balanced state.
Move simply, gently, and feel good.
Two movements to bring a little warmth and energy back into the body this winter.
Always move gently and listen to your body. We all move differently and not every day will feel the same.
FORWARD FOLD
Standing: with soft knees, slowly fold forward from the hips, letting the head and arms hang heavy. Allow gravity to do the work and hold for a few breaths before slowly rolling back up.
Seated: on a chair, couch or end of a bed slowly fold forward from the hips and let your upper body drape over your legs. Relax the neck and take a few deep breaths before slowly rising.
SIDE STRETCH
Standing: with feet hip width apart, reach one arm up and over, gently lengthening through the side body. Hold for a few breaths and repeat on the other side.
Seated: sitting tall, raise one arm overhead and gently lean to the opposite side, feeling the stretch open through the ribs and waist. Hold for a few breaths and repeat on the other side.

What I love about reflexology is how much the body can receive through something as simple as working through the feet.
Each point on the foot has a connection to a system or pathway within the body, and by working through these, it may help support circulation, immune function, and a sense of calm that is felt long after the session ends.
As the body settles into the treatment, cortisol may begin to ease, creating space for hormones to rebalance and the nervous system to restore.
For those who find foot touch uncomfortable, I also offer hand reflexology, giving the body the same opportunity to settle, rebalance, and restore.

A massage during winter is more than just a treat. It may help encourage circulation, release the tension the body has been holding, and support the immune system to keep doing its job through the colder months.
For women, winter can be a time when hormonal shifts feel a little more heightened. As the body relaxes during massage and cortisol begins to settle, it creates space for other key hormones to rebalance, which can have a gentle but meaningful impact on mood, energy, and cycle health through the colder months.
And here is something worth knowing... an hour long massage may provide the physical and mental restoration roughly equivalent to about 3 hours of deep, restorative sleep.

Supporting your immune system does not always have to be complicated.
Alongside rest and nourishing food, gentle therapies like Bowen may help guide the nervous system into a calmer, more settled state, giving the body the space it needs to restore and protect itself from the inside out.
Prioritise rest, eat well, and be kind to yourself this winter. Your body is doing more than you realise.

When life feels overwhelming, the body often holds it in ways we do not always notice. Tight hips, a heavy chest, a lower back that just will not release. Here are some of my favourite stretches that work through some of the body's most common tension storage zones, gently encouraging the nervous system to settle and the body to let go.
Always listen to your body and honour its limits. We all move differently, and not every day will feel the same, and that is perfectly fine.
