Barrier repair is a biological process that requires time, consistency & the correct support.

While it can sound appealing for instant smoothness, the truth is, it’s not a one-size-fits-all treatment & can actually cause more harm than good, especially if your skin barrier isn’t in great shape.
Your skin barrier is your first line of defence, it keeps moisture in, keeps irritants out & supports natural repair. When you remove too many layers (even with the best of intentions) you risk stripping away healthy cells that your skin needs to function properly.
This can lead to:
• Increased sensitivity or redness
• Breakouts or inflammation
• Slower healing and dryness
🚫 Who should skip dermaplaning?
Honestly — I’d say everyone. Especially those with:
• Active acne
• Dry, compromised or sensitive skin
• Teens or anyone tempted by TikTok trends
Healthy skin isn’t about taking everything off, it’s about working with your skin, not against it. There are safer, more effective ways to support glowing, healthy skin without compromising your barrier.
I prefer to focus on personalised treatments that build skin resilience — not strip it down.
