Weekly Recap: 6 Runs / 60km
Really strong week. Body continues to feel fantastic as I build the milage up methodically. It’s no luck that I am feeling capable of hitting these distances and paces at the moment. It’s regular treatment, regular rolling, sauna, easy running during the week, pace on the treadmill in a controllable environment, and sleep, at least 7.5 hours of it if I can manage that.
Plan of attack is this;
Sit around 60-65km the next two weeks.
Taper down slightly and race Rosebud 10km on June 7.
Get wisdom teeth removed (not ideal) on the 10th.
Get back into rhythm for 3 weeks before Gold Coast Half-Marathon on July 4th!
Super fun! ⏳🏃🧊

Run Coaching Spotlight:
An incredible congratulations to friend and client Meg who achieved her FIRST ever Half-Marathon over the weekend at the run in the city!
Meg and I started a weekly coaching program January 5th, the first Monday of the year, and she has been such a joy to coach throughout. Some of the key things we focused on for Meg were confidence in her pacing and her gait, improving her cadence which was contributing to injuries before we begun working together, improving her self-belief by stacking wins and unlocking new sessions, and building her strength through multiple gym related plyometric and resistance days each week. We built for 18 weeks for this race, deloading once a month, and Meg was able to stay injury free the entire time.
She got to race day, with no original goal other than completion, and pulled out a 1hr 56 half-marathon, sticking with a 5:31 pace which would have seemed inconceivable when we first started out work together. Meg has grown in confidence throughout this whole process and has built herself into an incredibly capable runner.
You should be so proud mate! You did everything right and you deserve all your flowers 💐. A mother of two kids who is now a half-marathoner!!!!
Special thanks for the gift in the clinic today, this is now the standard for everyone I coach!!! 🤣💖☕️

This AM’s run capping off my first 50km week post 3 week calf injury! Pushed the pace for the K’s along the highway solo. One of my favourite things to do is wake up early and run on the roads with no one else around.
I’ve managed the calf pain with regular treatment, reduction in load, progression in soleus / single leg loading, increased anterior core strength, treadmill running to soften stride impact, focus on cadence, and now running 50km weeks again!
Process matters! 8 weeks till my next race going for a PB half-marathon in the Goldy 🕺

Run Coaching Spotlight: ⭐️
So proud of this legend knocking out a half-marathon PB on a hilly Hobart course, running 1hr 59!
This was a B-Race for Liv, as we work towards her bigger goal later this year, her debut marathon at . Liv has an unbelievably cool story regarding why she is running this event, I wanted her to use her own words to summarise it, and feel very privileged to get to help her along this journey ⬇️
“I started properly getting into running due to experiencing grief. In many ways, running feels a lot like grief to me in the sense that it truly just requires you to keep putting one foot in front of the other. When I was lucky enough to get a spot in the ballot for the Sydney Marathon, it felt like everything that I had been working towards over the past couple of years was coming together. I feel it is my responsibility to shed light and awareness on the complexities of grief through this incredible opportunity. In doing so, I intend to honour my best friend whom I lost and also raise funds to give back to the hospital that cared for him. Running makes me feel so lucky to be alive and I can’t wait to celebrate my body and all that it allows me to do through my first marathon.”
Liv has been so fun to coach and whilst this half-marathon was only a stepping stone to the bigger goal in Sydney, it’s a great testament to her hard work that she came out with the PB result. Stay tuned! ⭐️
