Rosacea is a common skin condition we see in clinic. There are 4 subtypes:
1. Erythematoteleangiectatic (redness, flushing)
2. Papulopustular (acne-like bumps)
3. Phymatous (thickened skin, particularly the nose)
4. Ocular (involving the eye)

General advice:
- Use gentle skincare
- Sun protection
- Avoid triggers

Management of rosacea may involve oral and/or topical therapies, and skin treatments such as lasers.

If you have mild-moderate rosacea, please use our link in bio to book an initial consultation with Dr Yumiko.

For moderate to severe symptoms, a dermatologist is recommended.

Happy International Women’s Day 💜

This year’s theme is “Give to Gain” which emphasises the spirit of collaboration and generosity.

This might look like: sharing knowledge, mentorship, supporting women-led initiatives, increasing visibility, and advocacy.

Grateful for the support of fellow women clinic owners who embody this philosophy today and every day 🙏🏼

Did you know that even on rainy days, we are still exposed to UV radiation? Today the UV index peaked at 11!! The recommendation is to use sun protection whenever the UV index is 3 or higher.

UV radiation can pe*****te through glass so even if you’re indoors, sun protection is still recommended - especially if you sit near a window!

The UV index is estimated to be 10-11 this weekend. You can download the Sun Smart app to check the UV index every day for your location.

Have a great weekend!

8.8km walk to fundraise for 🩵 We started in St Leonards Park and walked to Balls Head Reserve for a lovely harbour view.

Donations are projected to reach $200K, which goes towards crisis accommodation and DFV counselling.
It was very well organised - thank you to the volunteers!

Great turnout, nice day for a walk, and cute dogs! 🐕 Donations are still open and raffle tickets are still available.

Melasma can be difficult to manage, and often recurs despite your best efforts at sun protection. Managing triggers is an essential part of your overall treatment plan.

While UV radiation is one of the biggest triggers, other things to be aware of including visible (particularly blue) light, and heat. Hormones are also a trigger, which is why we often see new onset or exacerbation of melasma in pregnancy and (peri)menopause but this can’t be avoided.

3 tips:
1. Sun protection
2. Tinted sunscreens (or tinted make up on top of sunscreen)
3. Stay cool / avoid extreme heat
