Progress Update – Echelon Apartments, Yeppoon

Works are powering ahead at Echelon Apartments as we move into the next critical phase – heavy-duty waterproofing and tiling.

First up: removal of all existing waterproofing. At First Response, we believe in doing it once and doing it right. That means stripping back to the substrate and starting fresh – it’s the only way to ensure long-lasting results.

Stay tuned as we bring this façade refurbishment to the next level.

That’s a serious height! We’re currently at GrainCorp, tackling major maintenance works with a 100-tonne crane—definitely not a job for the faint-hearted.

🚧 While many tradespeople are winding down for the year, our dedicated team is gearing up for some challenging shutdown projects that can only be tackled during this quieter period.

One current project involves re-cadding at a bustling commercial office complex—an endeavor that would be nearly impossible during regular business hours. 💼

We are incredibly fortunate to have a team that prioritizes collaboration and commitment, putting the needs of our projects ahead of their own. Their hard work and determination are key to making this project a success.

Here’s to our amazing staff who embrace challenges and ensure we keep moving forward, even when others are taking a break! 💪✨

A Robust Collaboration: Navigating Complexities at Karma Seas
For over four years, First Response Maintenance Solutions has proudly worked with the body corporate from Karma Seas, building a partnership rooted in trust and quality. Our partnership began thanks to a recommendation from Wattyl, who suggested we step in to rectify and enhance the work of a previous contractor who, regrettably, used a product that didn't last as expected. Since then, we’ve become a reliable partner, continually delivering exceptional results.

We are currently midway through the process of repainting the building's common areas, and the results are evolving into an exemplary showcase of both artistic skill and dedicated effort.. This project comes with its own set of unique challenges, but our experienced project management team has worked tirelessly to ensure every detail is accounted for.

One major obstacle has been the rear carpark, which is a suspended slab with weight limits. To safely support our elevated work platforms (EWPs), we engaged a structural engineer to design a plan that allowed us to continue work without compromising safety or the structure. The front elevation required industrial rope access, so we brought in our preferred abseil painter from Sydney, ensuring the job is done to the highest standard.

The penthouse areas presented another challenge, as they required scaffolding to safely access the high soffits and metal posts. In addition, we developed a traffic management plan to allow vehicles to access the underground carpark while maintaining exclusion zones in the rear carpark for safety.

At First Response Maintenance Solutions, we understand that challenging projects require thoughtful, detailed planning. We are proud of our operations and project teams for tackling each hurdle with precision, ensuring the success of the Karma Seas project.

🌧️🔍 Water leaks can lead to thousands of dollars in damage, but proactive measures can save the day!

We’re thrilled to collaborate with a forward-thinking committee dedicated to preventing water leaks in their complex. During our recent assessment, we identified that the original skylights were not only of poor quality but also poorly installed.

Recognizing the potential for future leaks, we recommended a proactive replacement of the skylights. The committee embraced this suggestion, and with storm season just around the corner, the timing couldn't be better!

Investing in quality solutions now ensures peace of mind and protection against costly repairs down the line. Let’s work together to keep our buildings safe and dry! 💧🏢✨

We’re back at St. Joseph's Church in Nambour, finishing up important cladding replacement and roof repointing to make the church watertight once again. We coordinated our schedule around the school holidays to use the adjacent St. Joseph's Primary School for parking our 135-foot knuckle boom, allowing us to safely reach those high areas. Dave and Sahil are working hard up there to complete everything before school resumes next week!

Waterproofing Works Underway at Emporium Apartments, Maroochydore.

First Response Maintenance Solutions has recently supported the body corporate with several essential leak repairs. One of these leaks, which caused damage to a business below, was traced back to the original waterproofing contractor cutting corners and not adhering to proper procedures. A decision to save $300 ten years ago has now resulted in a $15,000 expense for the body corporate.

Choosing the right contractor, who won't cut corners, is crucial to ensuring your project is successful and avoids costly repairs in the future.
