As we age, the scalp produces less oil and the hair loses part of its protective lipid layer.
➡️ This means the cuticle doesn’t sit as smooth or flat.

✨ The cuticle becomes rougher
When those tiny scales lift, hair creates more friction.
➡️ That’s why grey hair can feel dry, tangly or “wiry”.

Without melanin, the internal structure changes slightly, which can make hair feel more resistant to colour and styling.
