When I think about my abbu, I don’t just think about the day I lost him.

I think about everything he gave me before that.

The sacrifices I didn’t fully understand when I was younger. The quiet ways he showed love—not always with words, but with actions that spoke louder than anything he could have said.

I think about the times he put me first without hesitation.

The way he protected me, guided me, believed in me… even when I didn’t believe in myself.

And now, looking back, I realize something I didn’t fully see back then:

He was my hero.

Not the kind you see in movies.

But the kind who shows up every day. Who does the hard things without asking for recognition. Who carries the weight of responsibility just to make sure their child feels safe and loved.

I wish I could tell him that now.

I wish I could sit beside him again, just like we used to, and say:

“Thank you.”

For everything.

For the sacrifices.
For the love.
For the person he helped me become.

And even though I don’t get to say it out loud anymore… I hope somehow, he knows.

Because everything I am today… started with him. #ابو
