Hyperpigmentation is one of the biggest concerns amongst most of my clients; here's what you need to know!

Hyperpigmentation facts:

💥 Your pigmentation producing cells are called your melanocytes and they are found in the basal layer of your skin.
💥 Attached to your melanocytes are little arms called your dendrites, which feed your keratinocytes (your skin cells within your epidermis). Melanin pigments are produced in intracellular organelles called melanosomes. Your tyrosinase enzymes help move the melanosomes through the dendrites and control the production of melanin.

How does hyperpigmentation occur?

❕Hyperpigmentation is often caused due to trauma to the skin. Sun exposure, pigment from c-acnes, hormonal influences, age, injuries or inflammation.
❕ When post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation occurs, there is an increase in the melanin production and transfer of melanin to surrounding keratinocytes, resulting in prolonged darkening of the area.

How do we get rid of hyperpigmentation:

- Clinical treatments: Glycolic, Salicylic, Jessner
- Topical home products: Retinods, Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Transexamic Acid

Everything Gua Sha

Gua Sha was originally created and used by Chinese as a home remedy for sick children, scraping the skin to bring out toxins as the first form of treatment for early onset of illnesses and diseases.

I've been religiously using my Gua Sha every morning for a few weeks and these are the few benefits that I've researched and have seen so far:
