Burnout rarely looks dramatic at first.

It looks like:
• being constantly tired
• feeling emotionally numb
• getting irritated faster
• losing motivation for things you used to enjoy
• fantasising about disappearing for a week just to breathe

As a mental health clinician for 13+ years✨,
I need you to know this:

❌Burnout is not laziness.
❌And it’s not weakness.

It’s what happens when your nervous system stays in survival mode for too long.

The problem is…
most high-functioning adults don’t notice burnout until their body forces them to stop.

🛑So what do you do if this is you?

1️⃣Stop waiting until you “deserve” rest.
Rest is not a reward after exhaustion. It’s maintenance.

2️⃣Reduce invisible load.
Your brain is overloaded from carrying too many tabs at once. Write things down. Delegate. Simplify decisions.

3️⃣Stop glorifying functioning while suffering.
Being productive while emotionally drowning is not strength.

4️⃣Your nervous system needs safety, not just motivation.
Sleep. Quiet. Sunlight. Walking. Boundaries. Slower mornings. Real human connection.

5️⃣Don’t make huge life decisions in peak burnout.
Sometimes you don’t need a completely new life.
You need recovery first.

6️⃣Talk to someone before you crash.
Burnout grows in silence.

And lastly:

You are not failing because you’re tired.

You’ve just been strong for too long without enough recovery🍀
