"Always a great experience! Clean and well maintained services and knowledgeable staff. the service are great before during and after the float. Allow for enough time to hang out in the lounge after."
— Marty W., 5-star Google review

His tip stands: don't book the hour, book the afternoon. The float is 60 minutes; the calm runs longer.

Ask yourself what went right today. Most of us go blank.

Here's the one thing for today.

Before bed tonight, write down three things that went right today. Next to each one, write why it happened.

Two minutes. Nobody sees it.

Ten reasons:

1. The "why" is the whole trick. Not "good coffee." Why? "Because I left ten minutes earlier." That's not luck. That's you. You start seeing your own hand in the day.

2. Martin Seligman's team ran this in 2005. One week of writing. People were happier and less down a month later. Still there at six months.

3. You'll be surprised what surfaces. Three things, and two of them you'd already forgotten by six o'clock. The day wasn't what you decided it was at 4pm.

4. What's in your head as you fall asleep decides how you sleep. Research on gratitude and sleep found the path runs through your last thoughts of the night. Most of us hand our brain a list of problems.

5. It's the other half of a brain dump. Empty the worries out. Then put one good thing back.

6. Sunday night has less to grab when there's a written record of a week that went okay.

7. Your brain isn't fair. Researchers call it "bad is stronger than good" — one bad thing outweighs several good ones, automatically. That's the factory setting. You don't have to leave it there.

8. A nervous system that only logs threats keeps scanning for threats. Every day you don't write it down, you hand it more proof the world's against you. That's the tight jaw. That's the 3am wake-up.

9. Friday comes, someone asks about your week, and you say "flat out." You can't name one good thing. Not because there wasn't one. Because nobody wrote it down.

10. Good days you don't notice don't count toward anything. You can't bank what you never saw.

Three things. Two minutes. Tonight.

And if your head's too loud to find three — that's the sign. The Intro Float Pack is 3 x 60-minute floats for $189. It includes a BioCharger and a NuCalm session, about $110 on their own. Use all three floats inside three months and the fourth is free. Not for you? Tell us inside seven days, get the full $189 back, and keep the first float.

Don't rush the bit after the float.

Shower. Sit in the lounge. Give yourself a little space before the next thing.

When you choose your appointment, leave room around it as well as in it.

You didn't run out of time. You said yes too many times.

Here's the one thing for today.

Cancel one thing that's already in your diary this week. Something you said yes to and now dread. Send the message today.

Not all of it. One thing.

Ten reasons:

1. The relief doesn't start on the night. It starts the second you send the message. You get the week back, not the two hours.

2. Thursday comes. Home by six. You eat properly. Horizontal by nine. That's what you wanted when you said yes to Thursday.

3. There's a reason your diary looks like this. Zauberman and Lynch found we expect more spare time later than we've got now. So we hand jobs to future-you. Future-you is just you. Same week. Same tired.

4. Dread is a daily charge, not a one-off. Something you don't want to do costs you every day it sits there. Not just the two hours.

5. The message takes eleven seconds. The dread has already taken four days.

6. You think they'll mind more than they will. We're bad at guessing how people take a polite no. Most times you get "no worries, next time."

7. Go anyway and you'll be there without being there. People can tell. You pay the whole cost and collect none of it.

8. The part that stings: what you actually cancelled was never in the diary. It was the walk. The early night. Ringing your mum. Unbooked things lose every time. Nothing is defending them.

9. A week with no gaps has no give. Research on free time found people do better with a couple of hours of their own a day, and worse with almost none. When something goes wrong this week — and it will — you need somewhere to put it.

10. You can't recover in the cracks between things. Recovery needs a block with nothing in it. No light. No sound. No phone. Sixty minutes.

One message. Today. Before you talk yourself out of it.

Want the block with nothing in it? The Intro Float Pack is 3 x 60-minute floats for $189. It also includes a BioCharger and a NuCalm session — about $110 on their own. Use all three floats inside three months and the fourth is free. Not for you? Tell us inside seven days, get the full $189 back, and keep the first float.

Your nervous system is reading the room. Even when you're not looking at it.

Here's the one thing for today.

Clear the kitchen bench before you go to bed. Ten minutes. That's the whole ask.

Not the house. Not the cupboards. One bench.

Ten reasons:

1. Your brain doesn't ignore the pile. It processes it. Everything in your eyeline competes for attention, and clutter wins some of that fight without asking you.

2. 6:30am. Clear bench. Kettle on. The first decision of the day is yours instead of the mess's.

3. A UCLA study found people who described their home as cluttered and unfinished had a flatter cortisol curve across the day — the pattern you see in people running on empty.

4. An unfinished job nags at you. A pile on the bench is an open loop with a picture attached. Ten minutes shuts it.

5. "I'll do it in the morning" costs you the same ten minutes. Plus interest. At 6:30am, when you have none.

6. In one small lab study, stressed people put in a messy kitchen ate far more biscuits than the same people in a tidy one. The room was making the call.

7. Your stress hormones already climb as you wake up. That's normal. Walking into a to-do list you never wrote is pouring water into a tide that's coming in anyway.

8. And it stops being about the bench. It turns into the thing you say to yourself about whether you're on top of your life. That story costs more than the dishes.

9. Home is meant to be where you stand down. If every room has a job waiting in it, there's nowhere in the house you actually do.

10. You can't subtract input from a room you keep adding to. Some days you need to go somewhere with nothing in it at all — no light, no sound, no gravity, 60 minutes.

Tonight. One bench. Then bed.

If you want the version with nothing in the room: the Intro Float Pack is 3 x 60-minute floats for $189. It also includes a BioCharger session and a NuCalm session — about $110 on their own. Use all three floats inside three months and the fourth float is free. Not for you? Tell us inside seven days, get the full $189 back, and keep the first float.
