Recently I entered a hair competition. I needed something to motivate me to try something different, step outside my normal vibe and be creative.

The idea came to me and once it did, the vision made sense. I didn’t want to create something eccentric, I wanted something that was almost understated. For me, this look represents the need to hide in plain sight, to be seen but not noticed. I personally have a deep need for approval but am simultaneously uncomfortable with praise and compliments.

I just really needed an outlet in my favourite medium, hair. It took me over 10 hours to build this piece and was my first ever comp entry.
