Do you know what kind of plants bring all the birds to your yard?
The answer is natives of course!
Like this grevillea, many native plants have heaps of flowering blossoms that are extremely tasty to lorikeets, fairy wrens and other nectar-loving native birds.

Consider the needs of the fauna you want to attract:
• Think in terms of a “whole of environment” garden.
• Food - Leaves, fruit, seed, insects.
• Shelter - Dense shrubs, prickly bushes, rock crevices, tree hollows, grasses.
• Fresh water - Ponds, rock pools, water bowls, etc.
• Breeding sites - Trees, grasses, leaf litter, tree hollows, etc.

🌏 This Threatened Species Day, every backyard matters. Creating a habitat garden isn’t just about beauty — it’s about giving birds, bees, and other native wildlife the food, water, and shelter they need to survive.
🌿 Want to attract more feathered visitors? Start with layered native planting:
Grasses like Kangaroo Grass for seed + nesting material
Groundcovers like Running Postman or Everlastings for nectar + shelter
Shrubs like Correa or Bottlebrush for food + cover
Trees like Eucalypts and Wattles for shade, nesting, and insects
✨ With the right mix, your garden becomes a stepping stone that helps protect wildlife by connecting fragmented habitats.
