Educational post. Disclaimer: microblading was not performed at House of Terri Brows; the existing tattoo was completed elsewhere. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. In this case, the previous tattoo extended slightly too far, creating a visual effect that was pulling the brow down and giving the appearance of a “sad brow”. Our approach was not to simply follow the existing tattoo, but to use precise, strategic trimming to remove excess bulk, add texture, and carefully reshape the natural brow hairs to create a more lifted, refined appearance. One of the most important details was the tail. Rather than trimming the natural hairs to follow the lower continuation of the tattoo, we intentionally left them slightly longer, so they lifted upwards and visually moved away from the tattoo. The result? A brow that appears more lifted with a more open eye, rather than allowing the existing tattoo to visually draw the eye downwards. And this is exactly why consultation matters. This client initially wanted brow lamination. But because the existing tattoo sits lower than the natural brow hair, we felt lamination could emphasise the disconnect between the two. Instead, we chose a full HD Brows treatment with highly precise trimming, to create a result that worked with what we had, rather than against it. But with the right consultation and an understanding of brow structure, we can strategically work with the natural hair to create the most harmonious result possible.
