Green tea ( camellia sinensis) is one of my favorite ingredients to use when I am formulating for skin care companies, I have green tea growing in my garden that I use for making herbal teas and there is always green tea ice blocks in the fridge to put on burns, bites etc. green tea is a proven protector against uv light, studies done at The American Academy of Dermatology showed that green tea can reduce sunspots, reduces redness in the skin, helps elasticity, reduces swelling and is calming and soothing. Next time you make a pot of green tea, strain, cool and use as a toner or soak a cotton wool pad in the tea and place over the eye are to reduce swelling , the caffeine works wonders!
Okay we are back for all of our fans here is a fabulous Bath Jelly recipe! Great for problematic skin conditions.
Have you been to a beauty salon or day spa and had a face peel? Most salons use AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHAs (Salicylic Acid), you can do this at home without all that expense.
Pineapple is a very strong AHA it will dissolve the glue like substance that holds the dead skin together. For very oily and congested skin juice some fresh pineapple add a tablespoon of brewed green tea, soak some Cotten wool in the mix and apply all over the face, do not leave on for more than 5 minutes, you can add some organic honey if you want some hydration. You can slice some pineapple and use it as a loofa in the shower!

Thin skinned, pear shaped with deep wrinkles! Doesn't paint a pretty picture! I am talking about my childhood vegetable nightmare, the Choko! These days I really love them, as you can see by the photo they are easy to grow I will put this in the garden against a wall and wait till it produces. They are full of fibre, very low in fat and has a good content of vitamin C, peel remove seeds, slice and stir fry in a little olive oil, garlic chopped parsley, add a splash of balsamic vinegar at the last minute or slice and add lime juice, soy sauce and nuts for a salad! Skin care? Throw in a juicer add some cooled brewed green tea and soak a piece of gauze or muslin in the mix and place over the face and décolletage and leave for 15 minutes, hydrating and soothing.

The use of tomatoes in skin care can be fabulous! it is rich in Vitamin C which makes it ideal for brightening the skin and to help acne, it has vitamin A to strengthen and protect and balance the skin.
To help refine pores and treat acne, combine 2 tablespoons of tomato juice, 4-6 drops of lime juice and half teaspoon of vegetable glycerin (available at your grocery store or health food store)mix well and apply with a cotton wool ball soaked in the solution, leave on 10 minutes, wash off with lukewarm water. Do this 3 times a week. For a cooling mask, mash half a tomato add 2 tablespoons of unsweetened yoghurt mix well and apply over face and neck, leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse off.
