A lot of people avoid layers because they think it means losing length. But for curly hair, layers arenât about cutting your hair shorter, theyâre about removing internal weight so your curls can actually lift, form, and bounce properly.
Without layers, all the weight sits at the bottom. Thatâs what creates that triangle shape, flat roots, and lack of movement.
Done properly, layers:
- create volume at the crown
- improve curl formation
- give you balanced shape
- make your curls last longer between cuts
