I’ve been reflecting on something lately. My mum is incredibly artistic and naturally attracts creative, free-spirited people into her life. Many of them are deeply holistic and expressive—but don’t always place much importance on hair or beauty.

One person in particular has struggled with dating for years, often feeling frustrated by the lack of interest or connection. But when I looked at her, I noticed something simple: her hair felt unkept—like an afterthought. And it made me wonder…

What do we communicate to others through the way we present ourselves?

If someone shows up looking like they don’t really care, it can unintentionally send a message—even if that’s not how they feel inside. And while I’m all for self-love and authenticity, sometimes there’s a balance to be found.

Maybe it’s not about perfection—but about intention. Something as simple as a fresh cut or cared-for hair can say: “This is me, and I value myself enough to show up fully.”

A dream I’ve had for 10 years has officially become a reality, and I’m so excited to finally share the news.
When Amy from Northern Roots reached out about taking over her salon, I knew the opportunity was too special to pass up. As a Mosman local who grew up just two minutes down the road, owning a salon so close to home feels incredibly meant to be.
Five years ago, when the salon first opened, my mum said, “You should go see that beautiful natural salon — it would be perfect for you one day.” I agreed and tucked that thought away… and now here we are.
I’m so grateful to be taking over Northern Roots and beginning this next chapter as Quinn Salon. I’ll continue using natural, sustainable products that are kind to you and your hair. To all of Amy’s guests — thank you for your trust. I can’t wait to meet you and help you feel your best heading into 2026.
