Just over a week ago we went on a camel ride at Oakfield Ranch in Anna Bay, near Port Stephens. Our camel was named Pete, and from the moment we met him, he seemed to think he had far better things to do with his day. Pete the camel may not have enjoyed carrying two humans across the sand and water… but he certainly gave us an adventure to remember! Now to the next adventure.

Jamaican Easter Bun
For the first time, I nearly did not bake Jamaican Easter buns this year. Between family visits, time pressure and logistics… I thought about skipping it. But something said - keep going, and I am so glad I did.
Because nothing compares to that first bite of rich, fruity bun with cheese. That taste of home. That connection. a tradition.
Now I am already thinking about 2027…

Callaloo – The Caribbean’s Underrated Superfood
Across the Caribbean, callaloo has long been a staple in family kitchens.
Celebrated as the national dish of both Trinidad & Tobago and Dominica, this leafy green is rich in calcium, iron, fibre and vitamin C.
It appears in soups, stews and traditional breakfast dishes and is valued for both its flavour and nutrition. Simple, nourishing and deeply rooted in Caribbean heritage.
What is your favourite Caribbean dish?

Food, Memories and Community
Living far from the Caribbean, food often carries our strongest memories of home.
The scent of jerk cooking, a slice of bun and cheese at Easter, or the sight of a tin of ackee can instantly bring back childhood memories and family gatherings.
Food connects us to culture, family and tradition, no matter how far away we are.
As part of building that sense of community, we are organising a Caribbean Meetup on Saturday 18 April, a relaxed gathering for all ages to share culture and enjoy time together. It will be a chance to reconnect with Caribbean traditions, meet new friends and enjoy a day outdoors.
What Jamaican or Caribbean food reminds you most of home?

International Women’s Day 2026
International Women’s Day reminds us of the progress made and the work still ahead.
Last week I attended the Sydney Hills Business Chamber IWD luncheon at The Fiddler in Rouse Hill, where inspiring speakers shared stories of leadership, resilience and community impact.
The 2026 theme “Give To Gain” encourages generosity and collaboration, while Australia’s theme “Balance the Scales” highlights fairness and justice for women.
After more than a century of advocacy, the journey toward gender equality continues.
Let’s keep raising awareness, supporting one another and building stronger communities.

For The Love Of Home
Home is not just a place, it is a feeling, a flavour, a memory.
Living far from Jamaica, many of us long for that taste of “yard”, a slice of Easter bun, bammy, or the joy of seeing a tin of ackee.
Missing “yard”? From ackee to Easter bun, we deliver a Taste of Jamaica across Australia.

Grace Jones
Saturday night I experienced Grace Jones live at the Sydney Opera House, what a performance!!
The Jamaican icon delivered a bold, visually spectacular show on Mardi Gras night. Watching her command the stage reminded me of the global impact of Jamaican culture.
It strengthened my commitment to bringing authentic Jamaican flavour to Australians through Jamaican Products.
