24 years of hairdressing and apparently I’ve never learnt to behave at work.
Somewhere between the colour, the blowdries and actually doing my job, there’s a lot of laughing, carrying on and conversations that probably should stay between me and the chair.
Wouldn’t have it any other way.
And yes… the hair does eventually get done.
The reason there’s a Yezee.
Fun fact…
Hair by Yezee was never actually meant to be Hair by Yezee.
When this little guy was younger, he couldn’t pronounce Leslie.
Instead, I was Yezee.
And somehow it just stuck.
Years later, when it came time to put a name to my own business, there really wasn’t another name it could have been.
So behind every colour, every client, every post and everything I’ve built with Hair by Yezee… there’s a little piece of him in it.
The original Yezee. And still one of my favourite people to hang out with.
Funny how something so little can end up meaning so bloody much.

Maybe it’s getting older. Maybe it’s realising how bloody quickly time goes.
But I’m becoming a lot less interested in waiting for the “right time” or making decisions based on what keeps everyone else happy.
And if I’m really being truthful, I’m also over being so bloody self-conscious and critical of myself.
I overthink how I look.
What people will think.
Whether I’m good enough.
Whether I’ll make a dick of myself.
And somewhere along the way, I’ve realised how many things I’ve stopped myself from doing because of it.
I’m sick of it.
I don’t want to keep sitting things out because I’m worried about what someone else might think.
Start the thing.
Book the trip.
Change direction.
Back yourself.
Choose your own peace first.
Because yeah, it might not work.
But what if it fu***ng does?
You can change your mind.
You can start again.
You can make more money.
The one thing you can’t make more of is time.
So take the trip. Say yes. Walk away when something no longer feels right. Put yourself out there even when it feels uncomfortable.
You don’t need to have the whole bloody plan figured out.
I’m definitely still working on this one myself… but I’m done letting my own head make me miss out on things I actually want to do.
Choose your peace. Back yourself. Take the fu***ng chance.
