Sticky Beak / Cleavers 🌿

A few facts about this clingy little plant:

Its botanical name is Galium aparine.

It gets its “sticky” feel from tiny hooked hairs along the stems and leaves, which help it attach to clothing, animals, and garden visitors.

Cleavers is a member of the coffee family, Rubiaceae.

Traditionally, it has been used by herbalists as a gentle lymphatic herb, often associated with spring cleansing and fluid movement in the body.

The young above-ground parts are the parts generally used, often dried for tea or infused into preparations.

Such a humble little plant, but so clever in the way it grows and spreads.

After harvesting our very first lemon a little while ago, I was so pleasantly surprised to find the tree flowering again.

There’s something so beautiful about lemon blossoms .. tiny, delicate, and the fragrance is just gorgeous. A little garden joy today 🍋🌿
