Cold-weather destinations may be beautiful, but they can take a toll on your hair.
If you’ve ever come home from a trip wondering why your hair feels dry, dull or harder to manage, it’s likely a combination of cold air, lower humidity and changes in the water.

Here’s how to prepare your hair before you travel:

• Start using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner 1–2 weeks before your trip to build moisture into the hair.

• Add a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week to strengthen and nourish your hair before it’s exposed to colder, drier conditions.

• Pack a leave-in treatment or lightweight hair oil to help replenish moisture and protect against dehydration while you’re away.

• If you’re travelling for more than a few days, use a clarifying or chelating shampoo when you return home to remove any mineral build-up, then follow with a nourishing mask to restore softness and shine.

A little preparation before you travel can make all the difference to how your hair looks and feels when you get home.
