The Fragrance of a Flower Cave • Christophe Laudamiel

To mark 25 years of Grandiflora, we set out to bottle the living atmosphere of our Potts Point flagship. We turned to Master Perfumer Christophe Laudamiel, an olfactory sculptor whose work is archived at the Guggenheim.

Christophe did not just compose a scent; he mapped our “flower cave.” Through long days of discussion, we traced the molecular DNA of our world: the snap of green stems, the mineral cold of water-filled vases, and a heart of creamy gardenia. The highlight is a profound sense of petrichor - that ancient, ozonic scent of rain hitting parched earth, bringing the damp, mineral spirit of the shop to life.

Woven with Tasmanian Kunzea, Boronia leaf, ginger, and pink pepper, ‘Saskia’ was awarded the 2022 Art and Olfaction Award. It was honored for its rare ability to translate a physical place into a liquid narrative. It remains a beautiful, permanent fragment of our history.
