Many men spend their lives being the provider, the protector, the dependable one.

But underneath that strength are often questions they've carried for years.

Questions about touch.

Questions about connection.

Questions about brotherhood.

Questions about themselves.

Not because they're broken.

Not because they're looking for someone else to tell them who they are.

Simply because they're human.

One of the biggest things I've learnt after thousands of conversations with men is this:

Most men aren't searching for answers.

They're searching for permission.

Permission to be curious.

Permission to ask the question.

Permission to explore their own experience without fear of judgement or being labelled.

Curiosity doesn't always need a label.

Sometimes it simply needs space.

If you've ever found yourself thinking...

"Am I the only one?"

You're probably not.

I wrote this article because I believe these are conversations worth having.

Maybe it gives you permission to ask a question you've carried for years.

Or maybe it simply reminds you that you're not as alone as you thought.

With Jonte now fully qualified, Robyn has officially retired her "training methods." 😆

In all seriousness, we're incredibly proud of Jonte and the entire barber team. Watching someone grow from a quiet 16-year-old apprentice into a confident, fully qualified barber has been an amazing journey.

And yes... Robyn has promised to stop choking him...

At work anyway. 😂✂️

Just over three years ago, a quiet 16-year-old walked through the doors of Core Benefits with a head full of curly hair, plenty of curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Today, we're incredibly proud to announce that Jonte is now a fully qualified Senior Barber. 🎉

Like every apprentice, Jonte started at the beginning.

🧹 Sweeping floors.

👀 Watching and learning.

💈 Mastering clipper cuts.

💪 Building confidence one haircut at a time.

What stood out wasn't just his talent—it was his consistency.

He kept showing up.

He kept learning.

He kept improving.

(Although there may have been a few mornings where the alarm clock didn't quite get the memo... 😅 IYKYK.)

Over the years, Jonte has developed outstanding technical skills, from clean skin fades to precision scissor work, but the biggest transformation hasn't been the haircuts he's created.

It's been the young man he's become.

The shy teenager who first walked through our doors has grown into a confident professional who genuinely cares about every client who sits in his chair.

He takes pride in his work.

He values relationships.

He wants every client to leave feeling like they've just caught up with a mate—not just had a haircut.

At just 19 years old, Jonte is a great example of what can happen when hard work, good mentorship and the right attitude come together.

For us, this is what apprenticeships are all about.

Not just learning a trade.

Growing as a person.

Jonte, we're incredibly proud of everything you've achieved so far and we're excited to watch the next chapter of your journey unfold.
