With over 100K of you here now, it feels like a pretty good time to reintroduce ourselves 🥰

Hi, we’re Kate and Kristy - the co-owners of Retreat Yourself.

Kate started Retreat Yourself back in 2015 from the spare room of her little beach shack in Torquay, after leaving the corporate world with an idea to create something that would help people slow down, look after themselves and make their wellbeing a priority.

And fun fact: Kristy was Retreat Yourself’s very first subscriber.

We originally met years earlier working together in corporate, and in 2018 Kate convinced Kristy to come on board. What started as a friendship eventually became a business partnership, and Retreat Yourself became something we really started building together.

Since then, there have been a LOT of boxes.

There have also been babies (four between us), huge growth years, very hard years, plenty of mistakes, some slightly questionable decisions, some brilliant ones, many late nights, big ideas, rebuilt teams, products we’ve obsessed over, and more conversations about boxes than any two people probably ever expected to have in one lifetime

Somewhere along the way, this little idea became a business we’re incredibly proud of and a community of more than 100,000 people here - plus the many thousands of you who have had a Retreat Yourself box arrive at your door over the years.

And while so much has changed, the reason we do it really hasn’t.

We want Retreat Yourself to be a reminder to come back to yourself. To make space for the things that help you feel good. To try something new. To slow down when you need to. And to remember that your wellbeing deserves a place in your life too.

So whether you’ve been here since the spare-room days or you followed us five minutes ago, thank you.

Our Winter ‘Rest & Reset’ Box is made to be used right through your day, from morning to evening, with enough in there to last you the whole season. Here’s one of our favourite ways to use it on a winter’s day ❤️

One of our favourite things about creating each Retreat Box is discovering Australian brands with stories that make us smile... and Grounded Pleasures was definitely one of those 🤎

When we first learnt about Grounded Pleasures (who are based in country Victoria just like us, might we add!), we couldn’t help but love it. Craig McKenzie grew up working in his family’s café and became a little bit obsessed with one question... why was coffee always taken so seriously, while hot chocolate was often an afterthought?

That curiosity eventually took him around the world in search of better flavour. Then, after travelling through Sri Lanka and spending time with local tea and spice growers, another idea was born. Why not create a chai that actually tasted like the authentic chai he’d experienced on his travels?

The result is their Seven Spice Chai, which you’ll find in our Winter ‘Rest & Reset’ Box. It’s made with freshly ground spices, organic jaggery sugar and robust Sri Lankan black tea, creating a chai that’s beautifully warming without being overly sweet. It’s become one of those drinks we naturally reach for when we need ten quiet minutes to ourselves.

And can we also just say... we absolutely love the way Grounded Pleasures chooses to do business. They’re proudly family-owned, based in Ballarat, Victoria, and manufacture their products through an Australian Disability Enterprise that provides meaningful employment for people of all abilities. They also work closely with growers to source exceptional ingredients as ethically as possible, which makes supporting them feel even better.
