Long post warning ⚠️
Attention to all my clients!

Over the past 3 years, life has really shifted for me. My boys are growing up way too fast and for the first time in a long time I feel like I can start chasing new dreams in a different way. 🤍

For 15 years, my salon was the centre of not just my life, but my family’s life too. So many big decisions were made around it. Juggling a business while raising two very active boys who live for their sport and activities wasn’t easy especially when “clocking off” didn’t really exist.
Any business owner knows this!
There were always messages to reply to, things to organise, responsibilities to carry… all while navigating my own life and health challenges behind the scenes.

So this year I set a goal: something had to change. My kids are older now. They’re ready… and so am I.

I tried to stepped right outside my comfort zone in 2024 as you all know I dramatically reduced my hours closed for a bit and tried a completely different industry in community support. That experience helped me grow in so many ways and taught me a lot about myself. But I also realised something important was missing being part of a team that truly understands you, supports you, encourages you, and helps you grow every day. I missed having “my people” around me. As much as I was proud of myself for trying something new, I knew it wasn’t quite the change my heart was looking for. Something was still missing.
So I went back to what I knew best my salon. And I didn’t hate it after all. I still loved my loyal clients. I still loved hair. Even on the days when it was physically hard just to stand, I showed up. I tried to convince myself that this was me, that this was my purpose… but it felt like so many things kept going against me, almost pushing me out of that chapter no matter how hard I tried to hold on.

Last year, my husband also made a huge change and chased his dream of starting his own business. Watching him back himself and go for it was incredibly inspiring and it has helped our family so much. Having that extra flexibility and support with the kids has made a world of difference and gave me the space to finally consider making changes of my own.

So I started doing up my resume applied for a couple of jobs going around in circles, trying to build the confidence to step outside my comfort zone actually press send! The truth is, that comfort zone was slowly draining me. It was affecting my health, my mental wellbeing, my family, and even my relationships. I found myself pulling away from people simply because I had nothing left to give.
It made me question everything… my purpose, my direction, my future.
Then last week, while searching for a new beginning, an opportunity appeared that honestly felt too good to be true. A position in one of the leading salons in town EBONY EMIRE as Salon Coordinator/Admin specifically asking for a qualified hairdresser who is ready to step off the tools.
I yelled in my head Um… YES!!! 😳✨scared as (***
I was excited but terrified at the same time. Am I ready? Can I really do this?
After a lot of back and forth with myself and a lot of encouragement from my loved ones I finally found the courage to send my resume. Within half an hour I had a reply from the most beautiful, welcoming boss. I went in for a chat the very next day… and 3 days later, I started the job!
The first day butterflies were next level. My anxiety gave me plenty of moments where walking away felt easier. But something deeper kept saying, “Keep going.” So I did.
And wow… my very first day confirmed everything. The salon, the energy, the culture, the team not just incredibly talented, but genuinely beautiful humans. My kind of people. 🤍
I am so incredibly grateful the universe placed this opportunity in front of me, and I cannot wait to see the personal growth that comes from this next chapter. This may not be my forever place and that’s okay. I’ve realised that challenging yourself and stepping outside your comfort zone is how we truly grow but I hope it is.
To my beautiful past clients I welcome you with open arms to give these incredible stylists a go. I truly believe they will look after you with the same care and love that I always tried to give. And don’t worry… I’ll still be around for chats and check-ins. How could I not? 🤍
This Friday afternoon, my salon will close indefinitely. The space we once knew as Blossom Hair and Resa May will become a beautiful memory of the past a proud one but this space is now needed for my family and the next chapter of our lives.
To my support system my husband, my family, my friends and my loyal clients thank you for holding me up while I found my courage again.
This is simply my story. And if sharing it inspires even one person to chase their dreams, step outside their comfort zone, or keep challenging themselves to grow, then it’s worth it. ✨
And to anyone else who feels stuck in a cycle, going around and around… you’re not alone. Try new things. Trust the process. Build your support system. Don’t force what isn’t ready. What’s meant for you will find you sometimes right when you need it most.
Here’s to new beginnings 🥂
