A truly lived in colour should be planned around how that hair is going to grow out and actually live with the person wearing it.

I’m thinking about where I place light, where I leave natural depth and what that colour is going to look like months from now, not just how seamless I can make it look on the day.

If six to eight weeks later you have an obvious regrowth line telling you it’s time to get your colour done again, that’s not lived in colour to me.

A root shadow can absolutely be part of the process. But it shouldn’t be doing all the heavy lifting.

The grow out isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of the colour plan x

Originally, we thought we might go for a short, solid bob.

But the more we talked, the more it felt wrong.

She had this cool energy to her. Great style, personality, a vibe that called for texture.

Straight lines felt too structured. With a full fringe, I didn’t want her to feel like she was wearing her hair.

So we pivoted.

Less weight. Less structure. More movement. More edge.

Sometimes great hair isn’t giving people what they ask for. It’s understanding who they are and creating something that feels more like them.
