A total of 6.5 hrs over a 3x day period, sitting here waiting for this displaced “Eastern Brown Snake” (highly-venomous) from Tweed heads south to come out. A concerned retail shop along this busy street contacted us 3x days ago saying they watched a brown snake weaving in & out of people quite fast. So we went down to see what was going on & the snake had retreated down a crack in the footpath. We watched her poke her head out of the hole but that was it. She was so scared between the busy rd next to her & all the people everywhere. This went on for the next 3x days, we called in multiple times & there she was, head just poking out of the hole looking around for where she can escape too. Multiple shops had called us by day 3 & all but 1 were concerned not just for the public but for the snakes safety. 1 shop which we won't name for legal reasons, decided to deliberately pour boiling water from the kettle into the small cavity the snake was hiding in 😡 Today was the day we rescued her & can now take her to a safer place where she hopefully won't come into contact with humans ever again. Thankfully she wasn't injured from the hot water, I'd say it went straight down into the cracks & luckily she was tucked to the side of the cavity. We have named her "Eve" in honour of all the girls who cared so deeply about this snakes welfare & spent the past few days trying to keep everyone away.
