The June edition of The Westsider is now live!
This month, I discuss "When children ‘fall apart’ after school: understanding big emotions and responding with calmness." As parents and caregivers, understanding the emotions behind these moments can help us respond with patience, empathy, and connection.
A sincere thank you to Barbara and the entire Westsider team for supporting the release of my monthly editorial.

Mindful Moments with Lauren – Key Takeaways
1. ✨ Authenticity is powerful
True confidence comes from embracing who you are, not changing yourself to fit society’s expectations.
2. 🧠💬 Mental health conversations matter
Open discussions help reduce stigma, encourage understanding, and remind people they are never alone.
3. 🌈 Your diagnosis does not define your potential
Challenges and life circumstances should never stop someone from pursuing their dreams and purpose.
4. 💛🫶 Self-care and support are essential
Looking after your mental wellbeing is important when balancing life, advocacy, and personal goals.
5. 🌟 Turning pain into purpose can inspire others
Sharing stories with honesty and courage can create hope, healing, inclusion, and positive change within communities.

May is Domestic & Family Violence Awareness Month 💜
As an educator and mum, and through my work Raising Resilient Families, I believe change starts with how we raise our boys today.
We are not just raising boys to be men. We are raising respectful, emotionally aware individuals who value kindness, equality and safety.
Key steps we can take:
🏡 Model respect at home – children learn from what they see
💬 Teach emotional awareness – name feelings, don’t suppress them
🚧 Teach boundaries & consent – respect “no” and personal space
🤝 Encourage healthy friendships – positive, respectful influences matter
🧠 Challenge harmful beliefs – “boys don’t cry” isn’t strength
🩺 Seek professional support when needed – counselling and early help matters.

Domestic and family violence is preventable. It starts with awareness, education, and breaking cycles early.
Let’s raise boys who grow into men who choose respect, speak up, seek help, and build safe relationships 💜

I usually keep my family off social media… but today I had to show off the woman who is my greatest strength, my beautiful mum அம்மா ❤️🌸

Happy Mother’s Day to the queen of our family 💐
Thank you for your endless love, strength and kindness 😅❤️

அம்மா...
என் வாழ்வின் ஒளியும் நிம்மதியும் நீ.
உன் அன்புக்கு எல்லை இல்லை 🌷

And to my beautiful son 💙
Thank you for choosing me to be your mum. You make life brighter, louder, and so much more beautiful ✨

And to my amazing sister 🌸
Thank you for loving my son like your own and being his “another mum.” I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you ❤️

P.S. My little man’s photos will stay off social media until he’s old enough to decide for himself 😊

Feeling truly grateful to be invited to the Tamilar Inc. “Pove Unnakaga” பூவே உனக்காக 🌸 Women’s Quarterly Get Together, beautifully organised by the wonderful Amby and Prasanthini. 💜

It was an honour to be a speaker tonight and share conversations around motherhood, women’s mental health, domestic violence awareness, and the importance of support services and safe spaces for women and families.

A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible women who attended tonight. Your strength, openness, kindness, and support for one another created such a powerful and uplifting environment. 🌸

These conversations matter. By coming together, sharing stories, and supporting each other, we continue to build stronger, safer, and more compassionate communities for future generations. ✨
