A little Melbourne trip, with a whole lot of learning 🧠

We had the opportunity to spend time learning directly from the founders of Lira Clinical and safe to say, we came home with our brains very full 🤯

One of the biggest takeaways?

Your skin is an ecosystem, and if it’s off, everything is off.

We went deep into inflammation, the microbiome, immune function and something we’ll definitely be talking more about… zombie cells 🧟‍♀️

Yep, they’re a thing.

As cells age, they should naturally die and be cleared away. But some cells don’t. Instead, they hang around and release inflammatory signals that can affect the healthy cells around them, creating a chain reaction within the skin.

We heard some pretty cool research around the microbiome and how supporting the skin’s natural ecosystem and immune function plays a huge role in long-term skin health.

And naturally, we came home with a few new protocols we’re very keen to start playing with 🌶️

There’s something pretty special about learning directly from the people behind the products and treatments we use every day.

To the men in my life ♥️

Today isn’t just for fathers. It’s for the men who show up when it counts.

My son.

Becoming a mum only made me want to work harder.

But it also meant learning to juggle some sort of work-life balance 🤷🏼‍♀️

Benji has been coming into the clinic since he was a newborn. We navigated Covid lockdowns together, working from home, coming along in the car doing deliveries with me, packing orders and sitting by my side while I navigated some of the most challenging times in business.

He’s grown up with Refine being such a big part of our lives, and I love that he’s always taken such an interest in what Mum does.

He proudly tells his little friends that his mum is a boss and “does facials” 🥹

He loves watching our Refine videos, hearing about what we’re doing and always requests a face massage at home, which has become an almost daily ritual.

One of my smallest supporters, but definitely one of my biggest motivators ♥️

My husband.

You signed up for a job you never applied for.
You’re never getting paid.
And you can never quit 😂

The tester of every new treatment. The person I bounce every idea off, and the one who hears “I’ve been thinking…” more often than he probably would like.

Never have you questioned whether I could do something. You’ve always just backed me, believed in me and somehow helped me work out how to make it happen.

There’s so much that goes into running Refine that nobody sees, and you’ve been there behind the scenes through all of it. You’re the calm to the chaos that comes with running a small business, and the person I know I can always lean on when it all feels a little too much.

Thank you for always having my back, no matter what ♥️

My dad.

10 years ago, I was a 23-year-old uni student, not long out of beauty school, trying to get a loan to buy her first business.

Unsurprisingly, no bank was too interested in taking that risk 😂

But Dad was.

He put his name down on our business loan and backed me, even though I’m fairly certain he had absolutely no idea what I actually did for work 🤣

That never stopped him from telling everyone about my little business though. Recommending friends, talking it up and proudly telling people about what I was doing like he fully understood it all.

Eventually I even got him through the doors for a few facials (and you better believe he fell asleep through every single one 😂).

Paying that loan off and being able to thank dad for taking that chance on me was one of my proudest moments.

I wish more than anything he was still here to see where we go next.
