Cape to Cape Midwife
Endorsed Midwife in Private Practice. Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” ☀️
I truly believed I would be working as a private midwife for many years to come. But over time, the quiet realisation has grown that it’s time to pause.
For now, I don’t know if or when I’ll return to private practice, but I know this is the right decision for this season of life.
I’m incredibly grateful to every woman and family who trusted me to walk alongside them during such a special time. It has been an absolute privilege. I’m also so thankful for the incredible team of health professionals I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside, you have all enriched my journey.
Midwifery will always be where I belong. While I’m stepping away from Cape to Cape Midwife for now, I’ll continue caring for women and families within our local hospitals.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. I look forward to seeing where this next season leads.

Cape to Cape Midwifery Clinic is all about making private midwifery care more accessible to women.
Did you know you can book an appointment with me early in pregnancy, or at any stage of your journey if you’re looking for additional support and individualised care?
As an endorsed midwife, I can assist with:

• Ultrasound referrals
• Blood test referrals
• Prescriptions for medications that may be needed during pregnancy

Most importantly, we have the time to sit down and discuss your options, answer your questions, and explore the choices that feel right for you and your family. Every woman deserves care that is personalised, evidence-based, and centred around her individual needs.
Medicare rebates are available for eligible services, making private midwifery care more affordable, with only a small out-of-pocket investment for many women.

Having a Caesarean Birth?
You Still Deserve Midwifery Care!!!
Many women think midwifery care is only for natural birth or homebirth… but this simply isn’t true. ☀️
If you are planning a Caesarean birth, antenatal midwifery support can still make a huge difference to your pregnancy, birth experience, recovery, and breastfeeding journey.
A midwife can help you:
✨ Prepare emotionally and physically for your birth
✨ Understand your options and what to expect during your Caesarean
✨ Support optimal baby positioning during pregnancy
✨ Ease pregnancy aches and discomfort with gentle support and acupuncture
✨ Prepare for breastfeeding and the early postpartum weeks
✨ Learn practical newborn care and recovery support
✨ Feel informed, calm, and confident going into birth
Birth is still birth.
You are still becoming a mother.
And your postpartum recovery still matters deeply.
Women planning Caesarean births often benefit enormously from having extra continuity, time, and support outside of rushed appointments.
As a private practising midwife in the Southwest, I offer personalised antenatal appointments for women birthing in hospital my aim is creating space for education, preparation, questions, and holistic support throughout pregnancy 💜

Hi everyone
It’s been a busy week in my clinic so far
While I am reviewing and preparing for the week to come I have noticed a couple of free spots in my clinic schedule.
Are you a new mum- just had a baby navigating Breastfeeding

This is what my midwifery clinic is for, it’s a very wholistic approach to pregnancy and postpartum.
Minimal out of pocket costs between 12-50$ (depending if you are pregnant or afterbirth)
I am in Dunsborough Mondays and in Busselton Thursdays ☀️☺️

Being a midwife means being a lifelong student.
There is always new research emerging, fresh perspectives to consider, and more options becoming available. It is a constantly evolving space, I love this about midwifery.
It is incredibly important to me that, as your midwife, I can offer you clear, current, and evidence-based information. From there, you are able to make the decisions that feel right for you, your body, and your baby.
So you will always find me learning, refining, and staying up to date, because you deserve care that is informed, thoughtful, and grounded in the latest knowledge.
This week was all about diabetes in pregnancy, exploring current screening options, and how this can influence decisions around timing of birth, as well as care for both mother and baby after birth.
I’m continually reminded how nuanced and individual this space is, and how important it is to stay across the latest evidence so I can support women to make informed choices that feel right for them.
I feel incredibly grateful to be working alongside the wider health system and the dedicated people within it, where the focus is on coming together as a team, working with women to provide truly individualised midwifery care.

Just found out you are pregnant ✨
It’s such a big moment… and naturally, your mind fills with questions.
What are my options?
What is right for me?
What happens next?
Often that first GP visit can feel quick, 10 minutes to take it all in, ask your questions, and make decisions that shape your whole pregnancy journey.
Imagine instead having the time to slow down.
To sit, breathe, and actually be heard.
With a private midwife, your care looks different.
Longer appointments.
Continuity with the same person
Space to explore your choices, your preferences, and what feels right for you.
Midwifery care is about building confidence, feeling supported, and entering your birth journey informed and empowered.
Did you know Medicare Rebates make the out-of-pocket cost very similar to your GP appointment.
You deserve care that honours this life-changing time. 💜

Oh hi there — I’m Barbara 🌻
I am a midwife of 13 years,
a paediatric nurse of 16 years,
and a lactation consultant for 7 years.
I am also a mother to three children
and a wife to a FIFO husband.
I understand the realities of family life, tiredness, juggling support, and doing things without your partner always home.
The care I offer you is shaped not only by strong clinical knowledge and experience, but by a genuine understanding of real life, its pressures, and its complexities.
I believe pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period deserve time, continuity, and personalised care, not rushed appointments or one-size-fits-all advice.
When you see me, you will be heard.
Your questions will matter.
Your choices will be respected.
Whether you are preparing for birth, navigating feeding, recovering postpartum or simply wanting calm, experienced guidance.
I am here to support you. ✨
Come and see me in either my Busselton or Dunsborough Clinic for individualised, affordable, private midwifery care.
