🤣 But…it’s funny because it’s true. No science degree here…(arts/education degree maybe) and I’ve used the apps but they don’t seem to be accurate and still say that ‘fragrance’ is good ✅ This is not okay. ❌

Funny story….I actually came up with the idea of Australian Native Apothecary which was originally called The Treehouse (but it got changed as it was a very popular name) at 3am one morning probably about 8 years ago.

Well-before the show Schitt’s Creek even existed. 😆

I stayed up for hours writing it all down and planning it out. It was also more of an eco store too with refillable natural skincare that was locally made by me.

Sooooo….when the show started and David Rose created Rose Apothecary in the show, I connected to it and loved this part where he says this because I would joke to myself and others and say…’I’m going to quit teaching and create an apothecary.’

As a little farm girl growing up in Denmark, Western Australia I would always be connected to the native plants and wildflowers that are endemic to WA and I’d often have a little garden of Rose Geranium and created my own potions, pot pourri, dried herbs and flowers to press into big books and use to decorate.Later, I’d make my own scented creams, lotions and mists for people.

Strange how I have now come full circle. If I listened to this passion earlier… I would have chosen Health Sciences with Aromatherapy and Skincare as my university studies instead of teaching…but it seemed like a ‘better job’ at the time and it was encouraged as a ‘teacher’ was a ‘good job’. So I studied health & physical education as part of my major in my teaching degree.

Was it a compromise…Or was it a sacrifice?

What job would you even get from studying Health Science?!

It all seemed a bit ‘wishy washy’.

32 years later…I finally finished my studies to be a certified Aromatherapist specialising in skincare, clinical aromatherapy and health and wellness.

It’s like the show was a final sign. 🤣 I’m such a fan and love to have it on repeat.

Also…Rest in peace the beloved and most hilarious Moira Rose (Catherine O’Hara) who recently passed. 😭
