Every great MUA has to have a great portfolio to show what they can do - it's one of your best marketing tools. PLAN PLAN PLAN and adapt as you need to.

This shoot was with the incredible .octavia.photo, from Perth, (assisted by ) and Peta-Gai had no idea which models were turning up the shoot, totally trusting Charlie to deliver. So she had a plan for the shoot, but didn't know eye colour, hair colour or skin colour. As soon as she saw these piercing blue eyes, she HAD to choose a orangey bronze to complement that incredible eye colour, as blue and orange are opposites on the colour wheel, so will POP each other beautifully. Add a watermelon lip and...perfection! Have a photoshoot plan...but adapt and improvise when you need to!

As an MUA, it's essential you learn to work on all skin tones and know how to properly colour match a woman. Your kit must include foundations for all skin tones, because you may not always know who your client is before they sit in your chair - and being caught out would appear racist and unprofessional.

Using brighter and deeper colour tones on skin as deep as this will always create a gorgeous pop of colour to highlight beauty like this.

Another of this exquisite photo series that was featured in an article in , which was showcasing local brands, and and its founder, had quite the write up! It was so cool to be asked to create an editorial for the print edition of the magazine. This was the second image of three that were published.

Notice how Peta-Gai matched the tones of the eye shadow with the tones of the lipstick to really give it punch and power with this edgy look? The cheeks tie in with the pinky tones and look amazing on her skin tone.
