A special moment at Brecht Van Dam Salon: the first time our new team — Minnie, Courtney, Tetiana and Victoria — is all together.

And what better way to mark it than by learning together?

We welcomed Jasna from Davines Netherlands for a team training on seasonal hair loss, scalp health and how we can better guide our clients through periods of increased shedding.

Because building a strong team isn’t only about bringing talented people together. It’s about continuing to learn, sharing knowledge and becoming better at what we do — together.

Meet Courtney — our new Top Stylist.

Originally trained in the US with Paul Mitchell, Courtney also trained as an educator, bringing both technical expertise and a deep understanding of the craft to her work behind the chair.

A haircut can change more than your hair.

She told me this cut made her feel stronger, more attractive, more herself — and apparently, her husband agrees.

That is what I love about cutting hair.

Not following a trend. Not making someone look like everybody else. But finding the shape, attitude and energy that were already there — and bringing them forward.

For her, I created a strong, fragmented silhouette: short and graphic around the face, with contrasting length and movement through the back.

A little punk. A little raw. Completely her.

She left feeling sexy, powerful and seen.

That’s what a great haircut should do.

From student to Senior Stylist.

When Victoria joined Brecht Van Dam Salon last October, she started with us as a work-study student, ready to learn and develop her craft.

Over the past eight months, she has grown tremendously. Tetiana guided her in colour, I trained her in cutting, and Victoria did what ultimately matters most: she put in the work — learning, practising and growing with every client.

Today, we’re incredibly proud to officially welcome her to the team as Senior Stylist.

This isn’t simply a new title. She earned it.

Victoria, be proud of how far you’ve come. We certainly are. 🤍

For me, fashion work is about understanding when hair needs to speak — and when it needs to support the image.
