Chemical peels are not necessarily what they sound like.

No horror. No tears. And not every peel means days of visible shedding or avoiding treatments all summer.

A peel is simply a controlled use of acids to encourage exfoliation and skin renewal, and there is a huge difference between an aggressive resurfacing peel and the superficial acids we can carefully integrate into a treatment.

Depending on your skin, the season and your level of sun exposure, we can work with ingredients such as salicylic, mandelic, azelaic and bionic/polyhydroxy acids, as well as carefully selected concentrations of glycolic acid.

And yes, glycolic acid can increase sensitivity to UV. That doesn’t mean it has to disappear from every treatment from June to September. It means we use it intelligently: appropriate strength, appropriate contact time, appropriate skin, and always with adequate sun protection and sensible sun exposure afterwards.

At Alchimie, the goal isn’t to make a treatment feel aggressive so that it feels “effective.” We choose the level of exfoliation your skin actually needs.
