So here it is! 40 minutes of all that good stuff. Stretching, breathing, some flowing moves, and of course, soms just lying motionless on the floor (my personal fave).

If you are feeling a bit tense before the holidays, I recommend taking a moment for yourself to inhale and exhale, to calm your thoughts, and to fill yourself up with good vibes and peace. How can we give if we ourselves are empty empty?? I do not think we can. SO, give yourself the give of movement and relaxation and let that spread joy to those around you!

Have you ever been tempted to skip your warm up and jump directly into the exercises you have in in mind? Maybe you are pressed for time, are bored of doing the same warm up, or just cannot wait for legwork 🦵🦵🏽🦵🏿 Well, the tradition of warming up your body isn't just something your middle school gym teacher came up with. It is real deal stuff.

What is a WARM UP? And why do we do it? 🧐

Often, we must WARM UP to someone before feeling comfortable in their presence. When it's freezing cold outside it's probably a good idea to WARM up the car before hitting the road to ensure that the engine runs properly. Unless you like cold leftovers, it is best to WARM UP yesterday's dish to really enjoy that meal for a second time. So for you.... it is usually a good idea to reheat your body and mind before jumping into movement. A good warm up prepares your brain and muscles for the exercises to come by pumping blood to those zone, thus getting the oxygen flowing, waking up the body, and creating energy and heat. You know that feeling!

My tip: Start with non complicated movements that employ the major muscle groups of the body. In barre we often start with knee-ups, in ballet class we begin with pliés and big undulating movements at the barre, with pilates we begin with pelvic curls and chest lifts... and after a few of any of these exercises you can feel the heat!
