Wear shoes that fit properly

Choose a broad, rounded shoe with plenty of room for your toes and a wide, stable heel. Avoid pointy shoes, which can cramp your toes and cause ingrown toenails and calluses.

Loosen up your quadriceps by doing standing quad stretches. Stand with your hips and shoulders facing forward and keep your feet together. Lift one foot backward until you can grasp it with your hand. Press your foot toward your gluteals until you feel the muscles stretching, and then hold that stretch for 10 to 15 seconds. Repeat this on each leg a total of 5 times.

Stroking motion
You can use this motion on the top and bottom of your foot as well.
With your palm facing your leg, place your slightly spread fingers on your ankle. You can use one hand or both hands placed opposite each other.
Apply pressure with your fingers as you move your hand toward your hip. Apply enough pressure to feel it in your muscle without causing pain. You can also alternate between light and heavy pressure.
Move your fingers back to your ankle and repeat the movement as your work your way around your entire leg.
Repeat up to 10 times per leg.

Skin care
Look after your skin. It’s important to keep your skin clean and well moisturised. Avoid soap as this can be very drying. Instead, use a moisturising soap substitute when washing, bathing and showering, and always moisturise your skin afterwards.. You may want to use a bath emollient or oil as well as a moisturising lotion, cream or ointment, as these clean and hydrate the whole body.

Refresh your legs
After a long tiring day, or during warm weather, refresh your legs with a cool shower. Avoid lengthy exposure to heat like sunbathing, hot baths and saunas as this can lead to dilated veins and swollen legs.
