Her journey has taught me a deeper kind of love, patience, understanding, and faith. She has overcome so much, especially through her health challenges, and watching her grow into the young woman she is today is truly a testament to Godβs grace.
Summer, thank you for allowing Mommy to experience the world through your eyes. You are my walking miracle, and I love you beyond words.

As part of my ongoing collaboration with The Hype Magazine throughout 2026, Iβm continuing to spotlight conversations that encourage healthier communities through education, awareness, and prevention.
This monthβs featured conversation is with Mike Hill, who shares the inspiration behind his new FITTY 50 campaign, launching on his 56th birthday. The initiative encourages adults ages 50 and older to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional health while partnering with an accountability partner to help stay committed to healthier habits.
As a nurse practitioner, I also encourage everyone to remember these important health tips:
β’ Establish care with a trusted primary healthcare provider.
β’ Donβt delay routine wellness visits and preventive screenings.
β’ Know your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar numbers.
β’ Discuss prostate cancer screening with your healthcare provider if youβre at risk or of screening age.
β’ Stay up to date with colon cancer screening based on your age and personal risk factors.
β’ Prioritize your mental and emotional well-being just as much as your physical health.
β’ Ask questions and advocate for your health. Knowledge is one of your greatest tools.
