If you told the girl who started doing makeup years ago that one day she would look at her work and genuinely be proud of how far she has come… she probably wouldn’t believe you.

I started from a very different place. I didn’t have the skills I have today. I was learning, experimenting, making mistakes, watching tutorials, practising on whoever would let me touch their face and slowly trying to figure out my own style.

My journey started in Selibe Phikwe, where I opened what was then Michy’s Beauty Parlour in 2019 after having my own disappointing experience with a makeup artist on my wedding day.

I remember wanting to create the kind of experience I wished I had received.

Then life happened. I moved to Gaborone, had my second baby, and had to start all over again in a market where nobody really knew me. Building a clientele was HARD.

But I kept practising. I kept investing in myself. I kept learning.

And somewhere along the way, I realised I wasn’t the same makeup artist anymore.

The blending became better.
The skin became better.
The structure became better.
My understanding of different face shapes and features improved.
And most importantly, I became more confident in my own artistry.

In 2023, I rebranded to Her.Fancy—not because the journey was perfect, but because I knew I was becoming a different artist and I wanted the brand to reflect that.

Looking at some of my old work compared to what I can create today honestly makes me emotional.

Not because I think I have “made it.”

But because I can SEE the growth.

And I’m still learning.

I’m still practising.
I’m still investing in my craft.
I’m still challenging myself to become better.
