1️⃣ Bakwena are the most powerful group in Botswana despite being very few. No single village is dominated by Bakwena in numbers. There were only 600 Batawana in 1825, less than 1000 Bangwaketse in 1826 and 400 Bangwato when they came to Shoshong in 1832
2️⃣ 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐁𝐀 𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐓𝐒𝐄- The real Bangwaketse only occupy 5 kgotlas in Kanye. The rest of the people from Mmathethe, Digawana, Moshaneng, Gasita, Mabutsane, Maokane, Ranaka, Mogobane and Molapowabojang are Bakgwatheng (a mixture of Barolong and Bahurutshe tribes consisting of Batloung, Bangologa, Bashaga, Batsopye, Baphiring, Bakaa, Baboloangwe, Baphaleng, Batshweneng, Bakgatea etc)
3️⃣ 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐁𝐎𝐎 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐄- Bakwena boo Sechele arrived in Botswana as 61 families from Bakwena boo Mogopa. They formed their tribe out of Bakgwatheng boo Magane near Kgale. The British helped them get Lehurutshe land from Metsimotlhabe to Kopong to Gabane to Ramotswa to Manyana. Bahurutshe still live in those areas until today
4️⃣ 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐁𝐀𝐆𝐀 𝐍𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐎- Bangwato are minority in Serowe. Majority are Bakaa, Bakhurutshe Batalaote, Basarwa, Bakalanga, Baphaleng and Batswapong. They were all handed to Khama family by the British in 1880
5️⃣ 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐁𝐀𝐆𝐀 𝐓𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐀- The real Batawana are less than minority in Maun. They make less than 20% of the population. The land belongs to Wayeyi tribes, Hambukushu, Banoka, Barotse, Basarwa and Baherero
