My husband asked this morning why the bathroom seems so …crowded.
Scroll to find out 😱😱😱.
Greetings from my little studio 👋.
As always, I use gaps between clients to demo techniques for you, and right now I am in osteopathic training, so new things are coming 🤩.
Starting with this one: the vertical crease between the brows. If you have massaged it, taped it, worked it with tools, and it is still there, it might be worth investigating whether the tension is sitting deeper than skin, deeper than muscle. This technique works at that deeper level, using the breath to encourage rather than to force.
Inhale to open. Exhale to hold. Watch the video for full guidance 💛.
Hey guys — the sun is finally out ☀️ and I want to have a quick chat about SPF.
I feel like people fall into two camps.
Some of you are like, ‘SPF 50 is too thick, I prefer a 30’…
and others are ‘SPF 50 all the way, I’m fully protected.’
But here’s the thing : both of you are probably under-applying 😎.
Let me show you. This is roughly how much you actually need for your face and neck, about two fingers’ length.
That amount is what gives you the protection written on the bottle.
If you’re using less — your SPF 50 is not really 50.
It drops. Quite a lot.
And especially if you’re using a tinted SPF…
be honest, you’re not putting this much on your face.
So if you’re a ‘SPF 30 girl’, you’re under-applying (which means it’s more like SPF 15 🙈.
If you’re a ‘SPF 50 girl’, you’re also under-applying.
Don’t be afraid of SPF 50, but also don’t think it makes you invincible… and check the amount you are applying 🙏

Hey friends ❤️
You may have noticed that I changed the name of this page to The Conscious Beauty Lab. I started out as ‘Discovery Yoga’, back in 2018 when I was mostly teaching Synergy style yoga classes with a side serving of face yoga, but this probably doesn’t reflect the kind of content that I post these days. I’ve since done a bunch on hands-on facial trainings and mostly do one-to-one work in my little salon on the weekends, on top of my busy corporate job during the week. So a lot of what I share here has to do with the face - tips and practical techniques that to help us look younger or at least less tired than we sometimes feel! The content is informed by the actual work I do with clients and by my own minimalist routines that I try to squeeze into this busy life.
What else will you see here? Just the reality of being in the second half of my 40s. Finding joy in making healthy meals with as little chopping as possible. Taking my exercise and skincare routines on the road as I travel for work annoyingly often. Precious moments with my cats… because who doesn’t like a fluffy Maine C**n!
So I guess The Conscious Beauty Lab is about functional beauty, little habits that keep us more or less sane and more or less healthy and … keeping a sense of wonder for the world, no matter how crazy life gets.
Same me, just a name that sort of fits. 🤍
My calendar won’t expand, no matter how much I try to squeeze into it lately. But I still have to wash my face.
Whether I’m rushing through it as a chore or staying present with the movement, it takes the same amount of time.
So what if I choose to stay? To feel the temperature of the water, the skin texture, the glide of the cleanser, maybe even the tightness of the muscles in my stressed face. To create a small window of decompression.
Plus, there’s the practical side: getting the SPF and the day’s grease off is quite useful if I want a clean canvas for my products to do their job.
So if you’ve been thinking ‘I need to start a face yoga /massage routine’ but it feels like a commitment too many, try this tonight. As you also have to wash your face ☺️.

Bittersweet news.
I’m leaving my little room at 3 Charing Cross the end of June. Many of you told me you felt at ease here the moment you walked in, and I’ve always thought that said as much about the space as it did about what we were doing in it. It has been a good room to work in.
From July, I’ll be joining forces with Silvia , a therapist whose work I genuinely rate and whose menu runs from brow lamination and Korean lash lifts all the way to microneedling, Hydrafacials, and microblading. As I only work weekends and Silvia mostly works weekdays, our diaries are perfectly complementary, and we will co-exist in a a spacipus new room at the other end of town (Colomberie). I’ll let everyone know exactly where to find us closer to the time.
In the meantime, if you’re a therapist looking for somewhere like this, or you know one who is, get in touch. My current landlord has been lovely to deal with, and I’d be happy to make the introduction.
Thank you for finding your way here. See you at the next place ❤️.
