As I approach my 5-year salon anniversary, I’ve been reflecting a lot lately. 🥹

This video was taken almost 5 years ago, when my salon was still being renovated, some furniture just got delivered and I was standing in a space that was about to become a dream I had worked so hard for.

And honestly… imagine if I never tried!

Imagine if I let the fear of failing stop me. Imagine if I talked myself out of taking the risk, investing in myself, or believing I could actually make it work!

Would everything have worked out exactly as planned? Absolutely not. There have been plenty of lessons, pivots, hard days and moments where I questioned myself.

But I tried.

And now, five years later, this salon has become home to so many wonderful clients who continue to support me, believe in me and trust me with their beauty.

It’s also become a safe, positive workplace for my amazing staff, and that means more to me than I can put into words.

What started as a dream became a space that now holds so many people, memories, relationships and opportunities.

So when I look back at this video, I don’t just see a salon being renovated.

I see a girl who decided to try.

It’s such a weird feeling because this is everything I’ve worked so hard for. A busy salon. Amazing clients. Lots of followers. A business that’s grown over the years.

But somewhere along the way, I started believing that being busy meant I had to keep saying yes to everything. More appointments. More hours. More pressure. And if I’m honest… it caught up with me.

I’m learning that building a successful beauty business isn’t just about filling your calendar. It’s about creating a business that doesn’t leave you running on empty.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do know I’m entering a season where I’m choosing to work smarter, protect my peace, and build something that’s sustainable.

Years of investing in my education, my craft, and my skills have allowed me to master more than one lane.

I didn’t become “good at everything” overnight. I invested in classes, certifications, mentorship, practice, and continuing education to build my skills in hair, lashes, and brows.

But here’s what I’ve learned…

Talent alone isn’t enough ‼️

You can be the most talented artist in the room, but if you don’t know how to run a business, market yourself, manage your money, create systems, be visible online and deliver a great client experience, talent can only take you so far.

I’ve invested just as much into becoming a business owner as I have into becoming an artist, and that’s made all the difference.

Never stop investing in your craft, and never stop investing in your business. Both matter!
