❓Why Does Your Shoulder Click?
Ever move your arm and hear a click, pop, or crack from your shoulder? It can be surprising—but it's not always a sign that something is wrong.
Here are a few common reasons your shoulder might click:
✅ Normal joint movement – Tendons and ligaments can glide over bones, creating a painless clicking sound.
✅ Gas bubbles – Just like cracking your knuckles, tiny gas bubbles in the joint fluid can pop and make a noise.
⚠️ Muscle imbalance or poor movement – If the muscles around your shoulder aren't working together efficiently, the joint may not move as smoothly, leading to clicking.
⚠️ Injury or irritation – Painful clicking, catching, weakness, or a feeling that your shoulder is slipping could be a sign of a rotator cuff injury, labral tear, inflammation, or another condition that should be assessed.
When should you see a physiotherapist?
👉 The clicking is painful.
👉 Your shoulder feels weak or unstable.
👉 It catches or locks during movement.
👉 It's preventing you from doing the activities you enjoy. If your shoulder clicking is a problem, reach out to book an appointment today!
