Cancellation fees only seem unfair when they are the result of a missed hair/nail appointment.
People seem to understand the importance of the fee when it applys to other types of appointments/events. For example:
You purchase a concert ticket, but end up missing it. They are not going to give the money back, because that seat was reserved for you.

You reserve a hotel room, but do not show up. The hotel will still charge your card, because the room was reserved for you.

You book a flight, but miss it. The airline does not give you your money back, because that seat was reserved for you.

It's easy to understand why they would still require payment if no-showed - because the reservations could have gone to somebody else, but they were reserved for you.

Now imagine your service with us:
You book in and your appointment is reserved specifically for you, therefore this time slot is blocked out for you. If you forget your appointment, don't show up, or cancel last minute, your service provider misses out on that appointment too!
They cannot put those missed-appointment hours back into their schedule for someone else to fill.

We know emergencies happen, and that life happens, we do offer grace periods.
However, the bills, expences, and pay-checks do not dissapear because someone forgot about their appointment.

there is a cancellation fee in place so that our buisness can continue to survive.

This is not personal, just to help our guests to better understand the importance of cancellation fees in the beauty industry.
