Today is my last day here in Vegas at the APP conference, what an incredible honour it has been to attend as a recipient of the Deacon Matheson memorial scholarship.

You’ll get a whole post dedicated to my time here but I felt inclined to share something dedicated to deacon.

Deacon Matheson was a Canadian piercer who was based in Ontario, who from what I’m told was not only an active member of the piercing community, but pushed to share knowledge with others, something that is invaluable to our growing industry.

On March 7th 2024, Deacon passed away as a result of su***de. I didn’t ever meet Deacon but his death holds a tremendous weight for me nonetheless.

This photo was taken from our remembrance altar, this is a very large platform filled with photos of those who’ve passed. Also pictured is a letter to Deacon from me, which I’ve taken the liberty of typing below.

Deacon, it’s a shame our paths didn’t cross while you were alive. My heart breaks for you and the deep ache you must have been carrying, I hope that peace has found you, I can only wish that it had come to you before your death. You aren’t someone i ever got to personally meet, however, I’d like to believe that since being at conference, I have seen you everyday. I see you in my fellow scholars, when we share in our unique experiences as Canadian piercers. I see you in Jason, whose stories of you make you almost feel within arms reach. I see you in our instructors, who are passionate about sharing wisdom. And I see you in my friends, who are always uplifting me whenever the opportunity presents itself.

So Although you are no longer with us, I believe that in many ways you still are and always will be with us, in many different ways, some that we may not even understand.

It makes me proud to see that those who knew you have made great efforts to see that your passion of uplifting others and sharing wisdom of piercing continue on, in ways that you could not have possibly imagined. It is my hope that through your memorial scholarship, past, present and future scholars can make you proud and to keep Deacon Matheson legacy alive, even afterlife.

Jewelry change for Maria⚡️

Not pierced by me but happily upgraded by me! A few months ago Maria popped into the shop wanting to switch her septum jewelry to something she could see. Upon first glance, you’d never know that she’s had her septum pierced!

Unfortunately for Maria, the original piercer had installed a very poorly sized piece of jewelry that was both invisible to potential jewelry admirers and not suitable for a comfortable healing process.

We swapped the initial piercing jewelry to something with a proper fit, let things heal, now fast forward to today and we’ve done another very exciting jewelry change!

We’ve special ordered a 14k yellow gold clicker ring from making not only a beautiful addition to her ever growing piercing collection, but also the perfect fit for her septum🌟

Although Maria may not have been pierced by me, I was happy to help turn things around and create a positive piercing experience, as I am happy to do for all the folks who walk through my door!

It’s been such a pleasure working with you, thank you Maria (and all my clients) for trusting me with your piercings, jewelry, and trusting in my abilities to provide a safe experience🫶

Eyebrow piercing for Meadow⚡️

Because eyebrow piercings are pretty anatomy dependent, it’s not everyday I get to send people home with one. But boy oh boy when I do, it is truly such a joy!

Such a fun little project!✨

We did a single lobe and a stacked lobe, and adorned them with pieces that bring us some asymmetric flair while still maintaining an aesthetic balance.

Our single piercing on the right ear features the ever so darling “Stephanie” end from Alchemy Adornment. 14k yellow gold, white cubic zirconias, what’s not to love?

On our left ear we have the cutest little stack with a timeless, white cubic zirconia from Canasteel and Alchemy Adornment’s 14k yellow gold, Mini Sparkle (these are both a fan favourite around here🤭)

In addition to all these new piercings we also stretched open that Rook piercing and installed a classic titanium curved barbell to complete this already fabulous ear!

The photos above are of Jody’s piercing 4 weeks into healing, post downsize. It is super common for your initial piercing jewelry to have extra length for swelling. Take good care of your piercing and once swelling has subsided, we’ll swap you for a piece that is more form fitted.
