Hi, I'm Emily Walsh, I'm a registered massage therapist at Luminate Co Wellness Clinic, located in Bedford, NS . I've been an RMT for over 7 years and am available for your chronic pain, prenatal, and self-care needs 💆‍♂️

As we say goodbye to 2021, I'd like to thank my friends and family, colleagues and clients for another busy year, full of growth and changes, success and happiness 🌿

I'm excited to see what 2022 has in store for all of us. I've already planned a few adventures and site seeing, and am gearing up to start a course on lymphatic drainage this month! 🤸‍♀️

How is July almost over already!? Summer is flying by and I hope you’ve all had a chance to enjoy some time off and to relax and recharge.

Double Mask Monday!

It has been a wild roller coaster of a weekend being shut down, rumours of being opened before finally being informed that we are allowed to continue to provide massage therapy treatments. 💆🏻‍♀️

We do have continued increases in positive cases, frequent press releases and the situation is obviously very fluid. We’re taking each day as it comes and understand with each passing day, more restrictions may be in place 📈

We’re continuing to follow and exceed our stringent cleaning protocols, PPE rules and screening guidelines set in place by our governing association. 😷

Starting today, it will be a double mask Monday continuing until we no longer have community spread in the area, and I’m comfortable to go back to a single mask. I received negative results of a Covid test on the weekend and have already booked my next asymptomatic test. 🦠

Please remember that all of these protocols are in place to protect you, our patients, as well as all of us in the clinic. We need you to do the same for us. Please keep up to date on the current exposure list and cancel if you need to. Wear your mask. Stay home if you’re sick. Get tested. Stay safe 💕

Once again, massage therapy in Halifax is closed. A little bit surprised this time around, as regulated health care can stay open, but unregulated must close.

Unregulated health care such as massage therapy, osteopathy, naturopathy is still such a valuable part of overall care. “Unregulated” only refers to our status to the government, it doesn’t mean that we don’t have high standards of care and ethics, nor does it mean that we’re not already following the strict return to work guidelines that were set out by public health prior to us reopening. We follow very similar (though tailored to our sector) cleaning guidelines, PPE protocols and screening guidelines as regulated healthcare.
It was a surprise to be shut down yesterday as we were allowed to stay open during the second wave in the fall.

Hopefully everyone can do their part to stay safe, get tested (I just got back from mine) and we’ll be able to treat again sooner rather than later. In the meantime, if you need care our chiro and physio are happy to help!

One year ago today is when my husband Will and I came to the realization as new business owners (4 months old), that we were hitting a wall of uncertainty. Covid was changing the world and new policies were in effect in Nova Scotia, the public nervous.

We woke up and had no idea what was ahead of us, no idea that a year later we would still be talking Covid.

A year ago we were oblivious... so oblivious... but as a new business with everything on the line, swimming was the only option. We adapted hourly if needed.

A year ago we had no idea we would send our daughter away to her grandparents for a couple months just so we could keep her safe, work and deliver all night. Video chat was the only option. This was even harder than the unknown.

A year ago we had no idea that our Clinicians would be out of work for 3 months, individuals who had become family in a short period of time. This made us nervous for them. But the most wonderful people that they are, they helped us day and night to get our online business running. We are forever thankful for you volunteering your time.

A year ago Will and I had no idea we would take a shower at the end of each day and cry. Tears for the unknown, tears for missing our baby girl, tears for the exhaustion, tears of joy because of our community.

A year ago Will and I Iearned the true power of community.

You have all unwavered. Our Clinicians stood by us, our Employees stood by us and our community stood up... all of the way.

Each small business has their story and I can guarantee there were tears like ours. So thank you to every single one of you for continuing to make the choice to support local. Those small business owners deserve it.

Each of us has their own crappy COVID story and I hope this helps you feel like you're not alone.
