EXPLORE A THERAPY: TMJ MASSAGE
What is TMJ Massage?
TMJ massage is a focused massage approach that works with the muscles and soft tissues around the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders.
Your temporomandibular joints (TMJs) connect your jaw to your skull and are involved in everyday movements like chewing, speaking, and yawning.
When we clench, grind, concentrate, or carry stress, the muscles around the jaw can become tense or uncomfortable.
TMJ-focused massage uses gentle, targeted techniques to help release muscular tension and encourage greater awareness and ease around the jaw and surrounding areas.
TMJ Massage May Support:
🌿 Reduced jaw and facial muscle tension
🌿 Greater relaxation around the jaw
🌿 Reduced tension through the neck and shoulders
🌿 Relief from muscle-related discomfort
🌿 Greater awareness of clenching and tension patterns
🌿 Overall relaxation and stress relief
Is it worth exploring?
TMJ-focused massage may be something to consider if you:
• Frequently clench your jaw
• Grind your teeth
• Notice jaw tension when you're stressed
• Experience tightness through your jaw, face, neck, or shoulders
• Spend long periods concentrating or working at a desk
• Notice that your jaw feels tight or overworked
Sometimes stress doesn't stay in your head. It shows up in your body.
TMJ massage offers focused attention to the muscles around your jaw, face, neck, and shoulders—creating an opportunity to notice, release, and relax.
If you've been noticing tension in your jaw, talk to our team about whether TMJ-focused massage may be appropriate for you.

How often do you notice what your jaw is doing?
Stress doesn't always feel like racing thoughts or a busy mind.
Sometimes it shows up physically.
You might notice yourself:
• Clenching your teeth
• Grinding your teeth
• Tightening your jaw while concentrating
• Holding tension through your face, neck or shoulders
And sometimes you don't notice any of it until your jaw starts to feel tired, tight or uncomfortable.
Jaw clenching and grinding can occur during periods of stress, and ongoing jaw muscle tension can be associated with discomfort around the jaw and face.
So here's your little check-in for today:
Are your teeth touching right now?
If you're not eating, see if you can let your jaw soften.
Drop your shoulders.
Unclench your teeth.
Take one slow breath.
You don't have to fix anything.
Just notice.
And if jaw tension has become something you're experiencing regularly, it's worth talking with an appropriate healthcare professional about what's going on.
Welcome, autumn. 🍂
The change of seasons gives us a natural opportunity to pause.
To notice what has been working.
To notice what hasn't.
To let go of what we no longer need.
And to make space for what comes next.
We don't have to reinvent ourselves every time the season changes.
Sometimes we simply need to slow down enough to notice what our body, mind and life are asking for.
As we move into a new season, what are you ready to release?
And what would you like to make more space for?
Reconnect. Restore. Begin again.

MEET YOUR PRACTITIONER
Catheryne Dahlke is a Registered Acupuncturist and Registered TCM Practitioner, licensed with the CTCMPAO (College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario).
Acupuncture is an effective form of medical treatment that has evolved into a complete holistic health care system.
Ask about our wellness programs:
Six week pain program: Some people experience complete resolution of decades-long chronic pain in less than five treatments.
But Chinese medicine is not just about treating your symptoms. Catheryne uses TCM techniques to diagnosis the underlying root cause of your health challenges. Thus treatment consists of alleviating not only the presenting symptoms, but also of addressing causative factors.
Do you have a question about your health or the health of a loved one? Talk to Catheryne. See if acupuncture and Chinese medicine is appropriate for your situation.

Have you ever tried acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional wellness practice that involves the placement of very fine needles at specific points on the body.
For many people, an acupuncture session is also an opportunity to slow down and step away from the demands of everyday life.
At Wellness Path, your session begins with a conversation about you-your concerns, your goals, and what you'd like support with. Your practitioner then develops an approach based on your individual needs.
Acupuncture is commonly explored as part of care for things such as:
Allergies, Anxiety, Arthritis, Asthma, Autoimmune Disease, Back Pain, Cancer Care, Carpal Tunnel, Colds & Flu, Depression, Diabetes, Facial Rejuvenation, Fertility, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, HIV & AIDS, Hypertension, IBS, Insomnia, Menopause, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Pain, PMS, Pregnancy, Quit Smoking, Stress, and Weight Loss.
Every person and every experience is different.
Sometimes reconnecting with your health starts with simply making the time to check in with yourself.

September has a way of making us feel like we need to get everything back in order at once.
The schedule.
The meals.
The workouts.
The sleep.
The self-care.
But you don't have to rebuild your entire routine in one week.
Start with one small thing.
Maybe it's booking the appointment you've been putting off. Taking a walk after dinner. Getting back to your favourite class. Going to bed a little earlier. Or simply giving yourself one hour that doesn't belong to anyone else.
You don't need a perfect routine.
You just need a place to start. 🌿
What's one small thing you're bringing back into your routine this September?

🌿 Reconnect with your body
🌿 Make time for yourself
…this may be a beautiful place to begin.
