πŸŒ™ Three retinol mistakes that are probably behind your irritation.

Retinol is one of the most effective ingredients out there, but it's also one of the easiest to get wrong. If your skin has been peeling, stinging, or breaking out since you started, check these three things first.

1️⃣ Applying it on damp skin
Damp skin absorbs more, and with retinol that's not a good thing. Going straight from cleanser to retinol while your face is still wet is a fast track to irritation. Wait until your skin is completely dry.

2️⃣ Using it every single night from the start
This is the big one. Your skin needs time to adjust. Start with once or twice a week, see how it responds, and build up slowly from there. Rushing it doesn't get you results any faster β€” it just sets you back.

3️⃣ Skipping sunscreen
Retinol makes your skin significantly more sensitive to the sun. If you're using it at night, SPF the next morning isn't optional. Every single day β˜€οΈ

Retinol works beautifully when you're patient with it. Give it a few weeks, keep it simple, and let your skin catch up.

⚠️ Four exfoliating mistakes I see all the time β€” and how to fix them.

Exfoliation should leave your skin smooth and glowing, not red, tight, and irritated. If that's what's happening, one of these is probably the culprit.

1️⃣ Over-exfoliating
More is not better here. Scrubbing away at your skin several times a week breaks down your skin barrier, and once that's damaged, everything else gets harder. Less really is more.

2️⃣ Harsh physical scrubs
Those rough, gritty scrubs can create micro-tears in the skin. That's what leads to the redness and swelling afterward β€” especially if your skin is sensitive or acne-prone.

3️⃣ Mixing too many exfoliants
AHAs, BHAs, retinol, and a scrub all in the same routine is far too much at once. Layering them compromises your barrier and leaves you with irritation and redness instead of results. Pick one and stick with it.

4️⃣ Skipping SPF
Exfoliation makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. If you're exfoliating and not wearing sunscreen, you're undoing the work and risking damage on top of it. Non-negotiable β˜€οΈ

If your skin has been reacting lately, try pulling back for a week or two and let your barrier recover. Come see us if you're not sure where to start β€” we'll build a routine that actually suits your skin.

πŸ’§ If your hyaluronic serum has been leaving your skin tight instead of hydrated, you're probably making this one mistake.

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant. That means it pulls water toward your skin β€” it doesn't create moisture on its own. So when you apply it to completely dry skin, it has nothing to draw from except the water already inside your skin. That's how a hydrating serum ends up doing the exact opposite of what you paid for.

The fix takes two seconds. Apply it on damp skin.

Here's the order:
1️⃣ Cleanse β€” wash your face and pat it, don't rub it dry
2️⃣ Tone β€” while your skin is still slightly damp
3️⃣ Hyaluronic serum β€” apply now, while there's still moisture on the surface for it to grab onto
4️⃣ Moisturizer β€” this seals everything in so the hydration stays put

That last step matters just as much. Without a moisturizer on top, all that water you just pulled in evaporates right back out.

Same products. Same routine. Just a different order β€” and your skin will feel completely different by morning ✨

Not everyone can handle a herbal peel. But if you can, it's one of the most effective resurfacing treatments we offer.

If you're dealing with acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation, sun damage or pores that feel impossible to minimise, this is the treatment worth asking about.

Herbal peels work differently from chemical peels. Instead of acids, they use finely milled plant enzymes and herbs that are massaged into the skin. That massage creates thousands of micro-channels, driving the botanicals deep into the layers where real change happens. There's no acid burn β€” it's your skin's own repair response doing the heavy lifting.

What clients see after a course:
β†’ More even skin tone, with pigmentation visibly faded
β†’ Noticeably smaller-looking pores
β†’ Dullness gone, replaced with actual glow
β†’ Smoother texture that makeup no longer clings to
β†’ Fewer breakouts and calmer, clearer skin

Worth knowing before you book: this is not a quiet-weekend treatment. There's a peeling phase in the days following your session, and that shedding is exactly where the results come from. You'll need to plan around it. It's also not suitable for every skin type or every stage of a breakout, which is why I won't book anyone in without seeing their skin first.

That's what the free skin analysis is for. I'll assess your skin properly, tell you whether you're a good candidate, and map out how many sessions you'd realistically need. And if a herbal peel isn't the right call for you, I'll say so and we'll find the treatment that is.

Yes, it's actually salmon. 🐟

PDRN is a polynucleotide derived from salmon DNA, and it's the ingredient behind the "salmon s***m facial" that's been all over your feed lately. The name is doing it no favours, but the treatment is worth understanding.

Here's what's actually happening. Polynucleotides are DNA fragments that are remarkably similar in structure to our own. When they're delivered into the skin through microneedling, they act as a signal β€” telling your skin to repair itself, produce more collagen and improve its ability to hold hydration. You're not injecting a filler or freezing a muscle. You're prompting your skin to do the work it did more easily in your twenties.

What clients tend to notice:
β†’ Fine lines look softer, especially around the eyes
β†’ Texture smooths out β€” makeup sits better
β†’ Skin looks plumper and holds moisture longer
β†’ Redness and irritation calm down over time
β†’ Acne scarring gradually becomes less noticeable

A few honest notes. This isn't a one-and-done treatment. Most people see the best results from a series of three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, and because it's working through your own collagen production, the improvement builds gradually rather than showing up overnight. Expect some pinkness for a day or two afterward, similar to standard microneedling. And it isn't right for everyone β€” pregnancy, certain skin conditions and a fish allergy are all worth discussing before you book.

The celebrity headlines got people curious. The science is why it stayed in our treatment room.

Come see me at Lily Medi Spa and we'll go through your skin, your goals and whether this is the right fit for you. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too, and we'll find something that is.

Real skin. Real results. Real confident client. ✨ Dull texture? Fixed. Hyperpigmentation? Faded. Uneven tone? Evened out. This is what happens when the right treatment meets the right skin.

Our client walked in unsure what would actually work for him β€” and walked out with clearer, more even, healthier-looking skin and a whole lot more confidence. That's not luck. That's a plan built specifically for his skin.

We don't do one-size-fits-all here. Every treatment plan at Lily Medi Spa starts with understanding your skin first, results second (though clearly, the results follow).

πŸ’‰ Your skin knows how to heal β€” we just give it a little push.

Microneedling uses tiny, controlled punctures to trigger your skin's natural collagen production, working to smooth fine lines, fade scars, and tighten pores from within. The result? Firmer, more even, radiant skin that keeps improving over time. ✨

No filters, no shortcuts β€” just your skin doing what it does best. 🌿
