Not all post-acne marks are dark. Those pink or red spots left behind after a breakout are called post-inflammatory erythema - and they are not pigment, they are vascular marks.

This means scrubbing won’t fix it, and over-exfoliating will make it worse. Calming the inflammation and strengthening the skin barrier is 🔑

How do we treat this?
We must calm the skin first and heal the barrier. Stick to gentle cleansers and very minimal exfoliation. Look for products containing ceramides, niacinamide, and azelaic acid. Never skip your sunscreen!!

With proper care, PIE does fade over time.
